Shampoo for dandruff that won't strip colour?

Can anyone recommend a shampoo (and conditioner?) that I can use on my coloured hair for dandruff? I'm getting annoying flakes. I home colour using a permanent.

Any suggestions welcome, thanks

I use Head and Shoulders shampoo for coloured hair although it has become quite hard to find

I use t gel on my coloured hair with no ill effects.

I've used my baby's shampoo for cradle cap before and it worked wonders. It has to be so gentle because it's for babies so I bet that wouldn't strip your colour. I didn't notice it affecting my colour anyway. Doesn't particularly smell of anything and I got it from Tesco x

It depends what is causing the dandruff. Is it just dry skin, or is it seborrhoic dermatitis or a yeast infection? Is it actually even skin, or just flakes of product build up?

Dandruff shampoos in general are far too harsh and can actually exacerbate the problem. Try switching to an SLS and paraben free shampoo and conditioner for a few weeks. This will also help to preserve your colour.

I'm using Palmers Olive Oil shampoo at the moment and that seems good. If you google "curly girl shampoos" you will find recommendations for SLS free products. Body Shop Rainforest is good and cheap.

Thanks. I don't know for sure but I think it might be seb derm as I have a bit of that elsewhere.

How can I find out what exactly is causing the problem? Seems too trivial to bother the GP with.

I had dandruff on and off for years and now I have switched to SLS free etc shampoos I don't seem to have it. Keeps colour nice too. Fingers crossed it stays that way!

Ask the pharmacist if there's anything OTC for seb derm. My daughter has Dermovate on prescription for hers, but her head was cracked and bleeding.

I've had a few recommendations for the tresemme hair and scalp range. I've struggled to find it though so not tried it yet!

I've tried every anti dandruff product under the sun over the years. None of them helped long term. I've recently discovered L'Oréal "low shampoo" while looking for a colour protect product. My scalp has been brilliant since i have been using it. The only pain is that it is difficult to find. I've seen it in one branch of Boots but several others didn't have it.

It's non foaming and takes a lot of rinsing, but it's worth it.

I thought I had dandruff but had scalp psoriasis, I can only use kerastase, the dermo calm one. T gel etc made everything worse in the long run. Dr prescribed a gel to put on the plaques as well, my hair is highlighted.

Alberto balsam coconut. Nice and gentle. Also sounds mental but try washing your hair less frequently. In the short term it will go greasy but after a couple of months it will settle down and you'll see an improvement. Ideally wash no more than once a week. Also if you blow dry stop drying the roots, towel dry instead.

Thanks everyone. I might start by asking at the chemist, although I will be checking out the suggestions on here. I'm also thinking of starting to use a very pure shampoo and conditioner such as the Body Shop rainforest ones, to give my scalp a rest from all the chemicals, to see if that helps.

Opposite to a PP, but I find if I don't wash every day I get flakiness.

So, everyday with a different shampoo and not too much conditioner seems to work.

I vary between Johnsons Baby shampoo, Tigi bed head, head and shoulders, herbal essences and tressemai.
