Thread 1 Thread 2 Thread 3 Thread 4 Thread 5

For those who are taking a peek and wondering whether previous threads are worth reading, we mostly discuss a bit of advanced skincare here with a perspective of seeking out the right ingredients for our particular skin needs. Distinguishing the acid toners from the actives whilst avoiding the truly unimpressive and harmful ingredients with a hope to achieve a bit of anti-ageing, alleviate irritation and sensitivities with some idle chat in between. Deviations on this thread are mostly my fault. Grin

If you're in need of some advice coming to grips with your skincare routine please don't hesitate to ask, we don't bite, only occasionally sting with a bit of Biologique Recherche P50 now and then Wink. Just make sure to state clearly what your concerns and needs are in as much detail as possible, skincare is highly individual and a random recommendation for a 'good' product will be completely different from one person to the next.

Make sure you've read the earlier threads (or at the very least the first one) so we're not being asked to answer previously raised questions. It takes a lot of time and effort to answer these queries and often the answers can be found in previous threads, but if you still have questions relating specifically to you, use the following form to make life easier on us. We generally answer one a day on a first come first served basis. Not everyone will have answers and sometimes we can't answer you at all. We're only a bunch of amateurs that can respond by suggesting what we would do in your place, for any severe conditions please seek out professional help.

---

Ahem, and finally a little note on spending. I'm well aware these threads cause many to reach for their wallets and spend with wild abandon. There can sometimes be a bit of a frenzy surrounding the excitement around a newly discovered product or on the back of great improvements when someone reports back. This is all great, it doesn't however, mean everything that's a sudden miracle for one will be it for you. Usually, it's a light bulb moment for connecting the right skincare ingredient with an individual experiencing a specific problem. Take your time to mull over decisions and question whether it's right for you too. Skincare is highly individual, it's a slow game that should cost mostly in patience, input, education, and perseverance. Please don't make it cost you financially needlessly.

Love the thread name Bo. Thanks for starting anew. I think I'll get some NY. I just bought a lovely By Terry lip balm. Although got l the way home to find Space NK had actually given me a lot of link blushed instead. Muppets. I don't do pink. Or blusher. Just been back to exchange. I've vowed to stop buying lipsticks (have been on the hunt for the perfect nude for years). I'm hoping this is The One.

My local Waitrose has just had massive overhaul. Proper restaurant, sushi bar etc. Some skincare brands I've not heard of...

I'm seeing turmeric coming up a lot lately on blogs etc. I believe it's used as a face mask in some cultures. Just turmeric powder mixed with water. Can't remember where, possibly India? Apparently it has anti inflammatory properties which I can believe when taken orally but on my pale white face I think I'd just look jaundice for a week afterwards.

In the cream the patchouli would put me off. Just because I'm not keen on very strong smells when it comes to moisturisers. Maybe a rose scent or something citrus but patchouli is heavy.

Bit Envy of your fancy Waitrose. A sushi bar! I don't even like sushi but still.

Smiling at optional snail after the recent snail drama!
Must admit I'm one who's been too squeamish to try any snail products. My eyebrows need serious help as they've become quite sparse in recent years but I'm not brave enough to do snail slime. Depends how desperate I get I suppose Wink

I don't like sushi either enid, but the fresh smoothies and other grub is very good!

banivani · 10/03/2017 18:55

I love sushi. 😁

I'm seeing a lot of testimonials on great effects from turmeric, even turmeric home made masks. Have tried making masks but didn't have great success and also am very pale so the yellow is a problem. However the vicco cream is too cheap to not try at some point I feel. :)

Loving the snail, bo! Goo-tastic.

Pupsie Nice to see you Smile I like Akin and Weleda from that lot, hippie at heart really. Re Neals Yard I am a long time user of the Frankincense Nourishing Cream (not Hydrating - diff formula) and it works really well for me as a basic, effective, when-everything's-gone-to-pot moisturiser. Not overpowering scent-wise imo. If you go to a store, they're pretty generous with samples. The Rose Facial Oil that bo mentioned is another I've repurchased multiple times, but that one is pretty heavily fragranced (I like it but I can see why others might not). I always found the Wild Rose Beauty Balm a bit greasy, but I suppose that's the point.

Enid I think turmeric is ayurvedic? Possibly...

See, I like Booths more than Waitrose but their beauty aisle is rubbish. I'd come out with all sorts I didn't need if it looked like that.

Grin I do love booths but yes, waitrose tops it
I've discovered some not mint toothpastes with fluoride which makes me v happy. If anyone has the same mint issue or fussy DC, they are - tesco strawberry ice cream toothpaste, sainsburys fruity gel, and Colgate minions which is some weird bubblefruit flavour Hmm

I love gel toothpaste for some reason, although it's too strong when it's mint flavoured. We don't have a Sainsbury's though. 😞

And wash your mouth out, Booths is far better. WinkGrin Just not for skincare.
