I am naturally a dark ashy blonde colour, which goes white in the sun. I really love my hair colour in the summer, with natural highlights, but always get fed up in winter when it's just mousey and boring. This leads to me putting box dyes on my hair and it turning yellowy!
I shoved a box dye on in September time, but over time it has gone quite a warm colour. It's not offensive, but just doesn't suit my colouring really. I also have dark ashy roots coming through.
I don't really want to dye my hair as the sun will start highlighting the natural bits soon, but I'd like to shift the yellowy tone of the rest of my hair.
Any ideas? I have a purple shampoo which I was using about once a week, but I find although it helps when the dye is fairly new, it doesn't have much effect a few months down the line on old dye. I must confess, I haven't used it very much since Christmas though as I got gifted some other shampoo which made my hair too soft to go back to the purple one!
I'm wondering if I could go to a salon and ask them to dye the bottom half the same colour as my roots, but I can't really afford that at the moment. Any cheaper ideas?
