When getting my hair highlighted can it be a subtle change?

I had my hair done around 5 months ago, 1/2 head foils! I want it done again but I don't want that dramatic change.
My hair is quiet light anyway, so can they do it so there is a subtle change and nothing to dramatic?? What do I ask??

Of course you can! It doesn't haven't to be bleach.

I have very fair hair, but it dulls in the winter and looks sort of grey and washed out. I have partial highlights - down the parting and just at the sides. It is the same colour as the ends of my hair, but is only a small amount so my head is not over- highlighted. I look like I have been on holiday and my hair has caught the sun.
