Checking in. Nice work, GGG.

Off to do a First Aid course tomorrow, which means three days out of the office. Which will be nice for three days....but there will be a whole heap of crap waiting for when I return.

I had the choice of becoming a First Aider or a Fire Marshal, and I think I know which one offers the most transferable skills. Colleague I Can't Stand drew the short straw; Fire Marshal suits his officious personality. Grin

Hm What crappy news BTM & Mrs S.
I think you are right BTM. Whatever their 'struggle' is, you can bet we won't think it as bad as they do, so good call.
Mrs S, i understand your anxiety over dd2. You know what I've been through with dd here, and from experience , no you can't make them tell you things if they don't want to. If you have any inkling about what it might be start here If you just don't know, you'll need to research, ask school , ask parents of dds friends, ask dd2 if there is anyone, MI for instance , that she could talk to. She must be terrified of whatever it is, that she can't or won't talk to a Cahms person. Dd wouldn't either, and thought she was, lame or just 'not very clever' ( dd could run rings around her and I honestly didn't think much of her I'm afraid) It won't matter if you cajole or threaten, if she is worried about what she perceives to be the consequences and had clammed up.
What about letting her see the gp on her own? The school nurse may be able to help, but I might worry that if the nurse works for the school, and school is part of the issue, dd2 won't want to give forth. The other option is to look at how willing she is to help herself. You can direct her to relevant websites, some of which can do online counselling and provide helplines. The anonymity of these can really be good.

It will come out Mrs S.It could be absolutely nothing, but I'd err towards caution and bring out the big guns, ( gp, referral, helpline, a Lot of time with her, extra gentleness, ) to get to the bottom of it.
Thinking of you both. Unable to sleep. Oh yeh, it's Sunday night again isn't it. I never do.
BD i hope tomorrow is not Completely grisly. You poor thing🌸🌷🌹🌺💐🐾
So far I'm a total failure in getting a pet. Herbs, what am I doing wroooonnnng?

What a great post, Crem. Thanks I'm often here in the night if you're up, but I hope you can get some sleep - you deserve it. I follow a Sausage Dog organisation on Facebook, so I try to contemplate those pictures and fill my head with them...as the meme goes, that is what the internet is for. Mucho dachshund love to you.

Just wanted to say a big Thank You for all your Crepey good vibes for my friend who had 10 hours of neurosurgery this time last week, and left hospital yesterday. Modern medicine, eh?

I am so overjoyed at having something positive in my little world.

Reasons to be cheerful

Meeting up with lovely Crepey for a Walkies later today
The daffodils are up
We've managed a whole weekend without DH blowing up about something. (We got close to it, but I just ignore ignore ignore...)

I'm so sorry to hear of all the parental angst over DDs. I don't have one of those, so would struggle to advise, but please accept my upmost sympathy. It's just PANTS being so worried about DCs in general.

I know other Crepeys are far better qualified to help out.

Come to me for tricky boys instead!

Well done on competing of the essay Stropps I admire your fortitude.

That's encouraging news about your friend Cloud

BTM That's all really tense. I do hope some info is forthcoming about the reasons for DD's so called friends being so vile. And MrsS sorry about DD2 feeling so down. She does need to talk to someone though...could she suggest who it should be? And all wot Crem says.

Quite a nice weekend it was, with minimal argy bargy. Lovely breakfast yesterday, with good friend in newly opened French restaurant locally which already has a branch in GGG's neck of the woods. Late afternoon went with DD to see Viceroy's House which was really well made and very, very emotional. Topped off with CTM later...quite a weepy evening.

DH is in a plane north of the border for a couple of days. Looking at another unstructured week....Hmm

I too have a stressed and poorly teenager: nothing major but if DD1 is off sick things must be bad.

Cloud , that's wonderful. How amazing your lovely friend is getting home. There is no doubt she will improve again at the thought of her own bed. Enjoy your walk.

Thanks Molly. Dh expressed concern last night about the puppy kitten thing. I think, he's afraid I won't pay him any attention. < first eye roll of the week>

Rose would you recommend Viceroys house do you think, in spite of weeping ? I was in bits last night, at cTM, especially at the thalidomide storyline. I went to school with a girl who had been disabled by it. She was lovely happy girl, but died young due to a heart defect. God, I wailed thinking about it. Dh kept asking in a distressed voice about the little actress in CTM, and surely there was no child still affected. Appalling how thalidomide was still prescribed after they knew about the effects of the drug. Shock

Stropps, hope you can have a day of not thinking any more about that essay. Btw, what is that animal?
A bunny? GrinBlush

Gym class done, dull admin done, ferreting around work stuff about to commence. Nice weekend here too.

Sorry about all the nocturnal crepage.

BTM my heart goes out to you. You have too much to worry about. And to Mrs S also re: dd2.

Crem, your post was full of your trademark wit and wisdom (I have sent that teens website to dh)

Stropps, if I come back as a companion animal, i.e. pet, I hope I'm yours, you are a lovely owner.

Herbs - I find varifocals useless for computer work. You'll do your neck in. I use readers. As for people, if I want to scare myself with the crepitude of my peers (not you lot of course)/get an eyeball of their pores, I look through the bottom of the vari's. Middle lens is kinder/aids denial.

Rose - I was highly boosted yesterday to hear of your tonsorial triumphs .

Rudy - that gossip business made me shiver, how horrible.

Has anyone watched Transparent? DH and I are on season two and adore it. Such fantastically dysfunctional people. It's all sex/gender themed and full of nudity and swearing.

That's one huge hamster, Stropps.

I am so sorry to hear of the continuing troubles of your DDs, BTM and MrsS - I have no experience in this so can't really advise.

Cloud, how lovely to hear that your friend is home. I am sure you must be a huge comfort to her.

DGC departed earlier, one to school, the other for her swimming lesson with her DM: we had an uninterrupted night, thank goodness.

I have just had an email from DS: he is sleeping rough on Thursday night, along with other CEOs in Newcastle, to highlight the plight of the homeless in the area - I feel very proud of him. I think the whole thing is being promoted by the Newcastle United Foundation with the additional aim of raising money.
