How to wear trainers with jeans?

I have a couple of pairs of trainers which I'd love to wear with skinny jeans, but during the cold weather can I just leave my jeans full length and wear normal socks and keep warm?

Every photo I see on-line seems to show everyone wearing no socks (or possibly teeny tiny trainer socks) and a flash of their ankles.

I'm still in boots and feeling a bit chilly for this.

Would Converse and other types of trainers look wrong if I styled them with a view to keeping myself warm?!

Place marking for advice as I can never get this right. I hate going without socks. Trainer socks slide down my feet and are really uncomfortable.
Sorry I have nothing helpful to add!

Thanks for bumping!

I'm wondering if a flash of socks is akin to wear socks with sandals Grin

Funky socks? Sparkly looks good as it is just so obvious.
I roll up my skinnies or hacked off with a rough edge. Mini socks are good and a cold ankle is ok!! I just wear a warm vest and coat.Smile
M and s are great for good trainer socks.

Right Kennington I have to go out this morning so I'm going to brave it (must shave legs in shower). Will report back.

Novelty socks are not me tbh Grin although thanks for the suggestion.

I felt the same but I tried the exposed ankle look and it wasn't actually that bad. Turns out ankles don't really get that cold!

Failing that I do still see lots of people wearing skinnies tucked into ankle boots and longer jeans with trainers. Even though it's not on trend. So you won't stand out if you go down that route.

Good luck! It is sunny in the south so I reckon it is manageable.

I always like the look of trainers and skinnies but I just can't do it

I wear striped socks so it looks like I have done it on purpose

I always do trainer socks but have got a v fashionable friend who wears the slightly sheer sparkly socks (m.topshop.com/en/tsuk/product/crop-rib-glitter-socks-6157874 for example) and they work.

I have seen a lot of people layering fish net tights under jeans (particularly ripped jeans) in fashiony circles but obviously depends on your confidence pulling this off!

Apparently fishnets, rolled up jeans and trainers are now where it's at..

I find if you choose a slightly less freezing/windy day to do the trainers/jeans/ankle flashing it's not too bad..

I wear the little trainer socks that you can't see, and as long as the rest of me is wrapped up, my ankles don't feel cold at all. There's only an inch of skin at most that's exposed to the elements!

Just a little tip - I always hated the invisible trainer socks because they always crept down and got on my nerves.

The Primark ones are bloody brilliant though, and as cheap as chips.

Failing that, sparkly is the way forward Smile

Just back from being out. I was surprised that I wasn't that cold while flashing my ankles in teeny Primark socks and rolled up jeans. The weather here today is around 6 - 9°C, so still chilly.

I suppose it was the equivalent of exposing my wrists whereas previously I thought it would feel more like going out knickerless in a skirt on a freezing windy day!Grin

Now I can get my trainers out and not be confined to wearing them in warmer weather.

Thank you for your advice Smile

Martin did you wear skinny jeans rolled up with your trainers? Or boyfriend/girlfriend jeans?

They were skinny. The others would have definitely been too draughty!

Converse high-tops are for this sort of weather. Makes sure you can still wear socks and they look cute with skinny jeans.

I do either glittery socks or fishnets, but am very much looking forward to it being warm enough for the gap.

The trendy people in my office wear skinnies slightly turned up and extra short socks that show above the trainer but don't reach the trouser. Glitter or fishnet socks particularly popular.
