How do I wear these - tucked in our out? (with pictures!)

After reading the MN thread a while back I bought a pair of DrMarten Flora thinking it would be the end of my casual work footear woes. Now I have them I don't know how to wear them!

Should my trousers be tucked in or pulled over the top?!

Apologies for slightly rubbish pics...

Tucked in if you're wearing skinny jeans. Those jeans are possibly a bit long which is why they look ruched up your leg. Try rolling them up a few times and see how it looks

Over the top looks odd. Rolled up looks good but it's JUST TOO COLD TODAY. I've got mine tucked in but as soon as I can bare an exposed ankle, I will!

Fab boots though, love them

Cuffed or rolled in my opinion, to just meet the top of the boot. I'm
Not a fan of the tucked in look

Skinny jeans should be tucked in or have a gap like this pic (rolled up if necessary). Sorry OP but I don't think I don't think those jeans fit you properly which isn't helping matters. They're too baggy in the knee to look right.

I'm envious of your lovely slim legs - the Flora's look really good on you. I like skinnies tucked in and if you're having jeans/trous over the top then not too much material at the bottom.

Mine give me awful back of the ankle blisters so I'm doubly envious!

Neither. Cuffed just above the top of the boot.

I have red ones and wear jeans rolled, or tucked in if they are tight around the ankle and ankle grazer e.g. Topshop Jamies. Those jeans won't work in my opinion.

No socks!? Shock

EggsEleven you're right, most of my jeans don't fit well, I have large-ish bottom, skinny calves/ankles and giant feet. These boots are a 6 (was being optimistic with sizing!) so will have to swap them for a 6.5 or possibly even a 7...

Think will have to opt for tucking in... or possibly only wear with the few pairs of jeans I have that are tight on the lower leg and roll them up... unless anyone has any other boot suggestions?? Perhaps just normal DM's might be the answer...

Haha, thanks DrScholl Grin I think you're hit the nail on the head!!

I like your idea winekeepsmesane but I think I might look a bit mentalist with the socks hanging out!!

Return label has been printed... back to Amazon they go... on the plus side I've just got a pair or Onitsuka Tigers as per the other thread.

Thank goodness for Style board for us terminally clueless dressers!

I had a thread recently about new balance v Onitsuka Tiger runners, would you mind sharing which ones you went with?

And I think if you're going for DMs the originals are the best, 8 or 10 ups Smile

Four here's a pic... can't seem to find any similar on the website... perhaps they're knock offs? They were £10 on ebay and seem in reasonable nick...

The only thing I would wear with those boots would be jodhpurs.

BusterGonad · 03/03/2017 20:03

I've got to agree the boots are not my cup of tea. I'm not sure what it is about then but the don't do it for me either!

Just a tip as well, if you're wearing ankle boots and need socks just wear trainer socks! They won't show!

Report
justaperson · 03/03/2017 20:39

Thanks for the input - I'd not thought of trainer socks... good plan....

Patricia I did actually look at just buying jodhpur boots Blush

Am now pondering brogues instead...

Ah, now normal DMs come up higher so look better with jeans tucked in than the Floras do. Again though, must be tight fit!

Report
WeeM · 03/03/2017 20:49

Def not over the top with those jeans. I think the problem is your jeans aren't skinny enough-I've found they need to be really tight at the bottom and not too long to be successfully tucked into ankle boots

10 quid?! That's a bagain! Off to check eBay Smile
