sotd has been sarah jessica parker Lovely. i'm always surrpised by just how good this is. i have to be honest and say i used to swerve celeb scents because i had them all tagged as fruity florals with no depth or complexity but boy was i wrong, this, jessica simpsons fancy nights and the two madonna truth or dare and truth or dare naked scents really changed my mind

SJP does some very nice scents. My favourite is Covet.
SoTD is 4160s Who knew? It's becoming a staple. Other fav from the sample box is Another kiss by the fireside, the reformulated A kiss by the fireside. Guess I like smokey perfume.

Oh how exciting! A new thread

I need to pay for the "Coty "Paris"" I won on ebay. No idea what it is Grin

I must start trying out some of the squillions of phials and samples I have untested in a box.

How is it I can blind buy something old, but am reticent to even try a new sample. Hmm.

Am still in pyjamas but it's a lovely sunny (18 degree) day so it's going to be something springlike today I feel.

Thank you for the new fragrant thread MrsC!

In case anyone needs facilitating- my 10 euro off a full bottle of JHAG expires soon, and I won't be using it. Does anyone want it? I don't know if the code is transferable, but worth a try.

SoTD is Maybe Baby by Benefit, light, bubbly and unfortunately nearly finished!

Thanks to MrsC for the shiny new thread... waving at you from the Gulf!

Tried a couple of different Tom Fords during my (prolonged) stay in Birmingham Duty Free. I liked both the Vert Enscens and Vert Boheme that I tried, but not quite enough for a £££ splurge. May get some decants when I am home.

Thank you MrsC for the new thread!

I inadvertently found some little treasures in the local charity shops this morning whilst looking for stuff I could use for world book day outfits. A big tube of Zadig & Voltaire body lotion and an unopened vintage Coty L'Aimant talc, both £1. Plus a Ted Baker mini aftershave for 50p, which I'll pass on to the DC. Might have to go for a rummage more often!

SOTD just had to be 4160 Tuesdays Sunshine & Pancakes Smile

What is the Zadig and Voltaire like? It hasn't reached Cape Town yet.

Hello, new thread - I always fall off when the thread drops from the front page. SOTD is Miu Miu.

I want to thank you lovely ladies for my new favourite scent - Hermes Rhubarb Eclartes (sp?) - just love it!

Other current favourites are Jo Malone Ginger and Nutmeg and L'Occitane Verbena Smile

Dd was in Occitane Verbena yesterday....I am in old fashioned YSL Paris today. I feel I should have scrunchy hair like Kelly McGillis in Top Gun.

I have the JHAG Miss Charming on tonight. Tangerine Rose Raspberry. It reminds me of SJP Lovely which I had and loved until my DD dropped it on the kitchen floor. It doesn't seem to be that easy to find now either. Yup, I like this one.

perfume swap thread
Got a bottle of L’Artisan Tea for Two, very happy. I seem to have become a bit addicted to smoky tea smells.

Great new thread!
I've been pretty unadventurous with perfume this winter, mostly wearing Shalimar Mexique, but I passed through some perfume counters this week and wore Tom Ford London and Tuscan Leather. Both felt great.

CoolCarrie I haven't tried the Zadig & Voltaire perfume, but the lotion is very sweet. At first it reminded me of La Vie est Belle, but later I realised it smells a lot like a stronger Body Shop White Musk Libertine. I'll probably use it layered with some of my lighter scents, but won't be rushing out to buy the matching perfume.

Les: tell us about Sunshine and Pancakes- have never smelt?

OC: getting stuck in a decent- sized duty free area sounds like it had an upside? But were you there for an outrageous length of time?

Me too Pest: Cabochard is my ultimate smoky fragrance. (Haven't smelt Bandit or Cuir de Russie though).

Ooh, lovely new thread. Thank you, Mrs C.Smile

Imscarlet if you're still hankering after SJP Lovely you can get it here. I have bought the odd shedloads of nail polish from there several many times.

SoTD should have been Sunshine and Pancakes if I'd remembered in time. It's a lovely lemon, honey and vanilla combination and definitely on my 9ml or larger wishlist. Not being as sharp-witted as LesIncompetents it was instead 4160 Tuesdays Midnight in the Palace Garden, which is gorgeously spicy and woody, and sadly, one of the more expensive ones. But no harm in it going on the wishlist too.

Madonna Truth or Dare Naked fans, if you want a back-up bottle shout. Mine won't be getting another outing - ooh, what a scrubber that was for me - all the perfumes of arabia wouldn't shift it.

Hello Green - thanks for the description. That's one I need to smell as I can't begin to imagine the balance between the sharp, the comforting and the sweet. Have had a quick squirt of MitPG in solidarity with you. Recall 4160Ts describing it as featuring the smell of the fruit bowl you forgot to empty before going on holiday?

MrsC S&P is definitely more on the comforting and sweet side. For me the lemony tang is in the top notes.

Grin at "Recall 4160Ts describing it as featuring the smell of the fruit bowl you forgot to empty before going on holiday?"

They certainly don't go in for pretentious marketing, do they!

you really hated truth or dare naked Green? i really really like it, it's really nice on my skin, boozy fruity vanilla goodness. I do prefer the original truth or dare as it's all white flowers which i truly love.

no SOTD for me today as ive had a hideous headache that wouldn't shift so have spent a large part of the day trying to sleep it off

Really and truly OneNight. Your description of it sounds lovely. So do lots of descriptions of it. Alas, on me it smells a bit like something's regurgitated it. But hey, I like Black Opium.
Hope your poor head is better soon.Flowers

In Cabochard today - is very similar to Bandit. So similar I probably wouldn't have spotted it wasn't, on a blind sniff. Bandit (I only have the new reformulated version though) possibly a bit more in-your-face.

Cuir de Russie, as a leather, underwhelms me. Tuscan Leather, and of course Cuir Cordoba, much more leathery Grin

I went with 'anyway' from JHAG today. Initial reaction, very like my DH's Dior Home Sport, possibly the Tommy Hilfiger I had myself about 20 years ago. I dunno, I'm glad that I got the tester kit, as it's nice to have lots of new scents to try, but not blown away by them so far. They all smell familiar, except for the Oud, which was the first and only perfume I ever had to wash off. There is another oud in the pack, which I gingerly sniffed in the pack today but decided against.

Thanks green polish. I think I will invest in another bottle. I spent last summer sniffing it on people and wondering what it was. I thought it was Jo Malone English Pear and Freesia, but after purchasing realised it wasn't quite the same. I eventually sniffed it off my SIL and immediately demanded to know what it was.

When I'm not JHAGing, my current daytime smell is Givenchy's Dahlia Noir or the Hugo Boss's Rose perfume (the Gwyneth one) both of which are inoffensive and fine for me for daytime wear.

GreenPolish there's nowt wrong with a bit of Black Opium. I'm rather fond of Jimmy Choo Illicit myself!

VP I'm on the fence with leathery notes, I think I need to revisit some of my samples and see if my tastes have changed.

Going mainstream today in Marc Jacobs Decadence, it's nice enough and i needed something fairly easygoing for parents evening Smile
