Your favourite dresses at the Oscars this year...

It's rainy, grey and Monday so thought I'd distract myself with a bit of mindless sparkle.
Loved Emma Stone, Taraji Henson and Viola Davies. I hated Dakota Johnson's because it looked a bit limp and creased, but it could have been good with a good steam and some scissors to the bow.
What did you love and hate?

I liked quite a few this year. I liked Kirsten dunst and Isabelle huppert as well as the ones you linked to. I really didn't like Scarlet Johansen's or any of the ones where the necklines plunged to the waist. I think they are so unflattering.

I thought the gold Gucci one was amazing too, though I am not sure I actually liked it.

Yes, I though Kirsten Dunst looked gorgeous, always love a pocket. I saw her on a few worst dressed lists. Harsh.

I agree with you, OP. Those three are the ones I picked out. All of them look so classy. Emma's hair and makeup is stunning and Taraji looks like a proper bombshell.

I didn't think it was a particularly memorable year, style-wise. Taraji P Henson looked stunning, but Janelle Monae's dress was major.

Not that keen on the colour of Emma's dress (I think she could've pulled off a bolder colour), but I loved the fringing and her hair and makeup were perfect.

I thought Emma's dress was a bit safe - beautiful but I feel she has worn similar before. Taraji looked amazing.
I couldn't stop looking at Ruth Negga's but couldn't decide if that was because it was good or bad.

This is the one time of the year I visit the Daily Mail's site as they always have the best photos of the event!

Dakota Johnson's hair looked so flat. As though she'd forgotten to have it styled.

Agree with the comments about Taraji. She looked amazing. I loved Emma Stone's dress, hair and makeup.

I don't like Emma Stone's dress - bit like an old lampshade. But the other 2 in the OP are stunning. Kirsten Dunst looked lovely too.

I liked Emma Stone's dress. Jennifer Aniston looked nice too. A lot of them looked awful.

My definite fave is Kirsten Dunst but also really like Teresa Palmer.

My least favourite is Emma Roberts. She is beautiful, but the dress just isn't nice imo.

Dakota Johnson's dress would have looked so much better with better hair.

Loved Ruth Negga, Taraji Henson and Janelle Monae.

Emma Stone's was nice but a bit samey.

I love the way all the dresses I like the best are usually on the Daily Mail's worst dressed list Grin

Loved Ruth Negga's but I might be biased Smile some of them were awful.

And for the men I like this.

I liked Dakota's look. Her face is so beautiful I don't think she needs much embellishment.

Love Isabelle Huppert, Kirsten Dunst and Leslie Mann. And Anita Patel (Dev's mum).

And a great big Yay! for sleeves.

I'm not doing hate today Halo

I didn't like any of the frocks that much, tbh, though Isabelle Huppert's was elegant, but I loved the sleeves! Also loved Meryl Streep showing her grey roots. Also Anita Patel - and Dev Patel for inviting her.

Meryl Streep
Taraji P Henson
Brie Larson
Emma Stone
Felicity Jones
Hailee Steinfeld
Jessica Biel
Alicia Vikander

Didn't see any that were really awful this year (except Dakota Johnson) I didn't like the bodice part of Emma Robert's dress, but skirt was pretty.

Anita Patel's sari, so elegant. Dev Patel totally pulled off the white jacket too.

Taraji P Henson, the hair lifted the whole look.

Viola Davis looked stunning, she's 51 years old!

I liked Brie Larsen in that gorgeous ruffled dress too.

Didn't think Dakota Johnson and Ruth Negga got it quite right.

Not a dress fan tbh but I thought Naomie Harris looked very pretty in the one she changed in to for the Vanity Fair party.
Last time I saw a dress at the Oscars that I liked was Rachel Weisz's black one that she wore in 2006, I later learned it was a maternity dress.
Taylor Swift at the Grammys in 2014 was another one, but that's more or less it
