Bio oil- anyone seen any benefit from using it?

I have some nasty surgical scars, and I massage it into those twice a day. They aren't less visible, but they certainly feel more supple - and despite the scars being several years old, they do tighten up and itch terribly if I stop for a couple of weeks. So it's doing something, but it may just be the oily massage that is helping, rather than Bio oil itself. But I like the smell, and it doesn't feel or smell medicinal which I like.

I use bio oil and really like it. More recently I've discovered coconut oil though and it's amazing!..for everything! X

I've been using it on surgical scars daily for over two years and I'm very pleased with the results. The scars are far paler and softer than they used to be so I don't notice them nearly as much. I also found it was great for moisturising skin left very dry and irritated after radiotherapy.

I only used it when I was pregnant. May have just been lucky, but I have no stretch marks. Used it religiously.

No. It has no magic ingredients you can't get far cheaper in something else, is v careful in it's marketing not to make any claims but lots of smoke and mirrors and over 2 years scars would fade anyway.

It is a nice moisturiser but then it's an oil - so it should be!

No, it made no difference to scars or stretch marks, or dry skin for me. Its just snake oil with very good marketing.

Tell us what you hope to achieve and we can probably recommend something with clinically proven benefits.

No pregnancy stretch marks here either, used it daily. But I also didn't have a very big baby or large bump so that may have helped!

Nurses and health care professionals have heard the ads just the same as everyone else. If you asked her why she was suggesting it and what the evidence was, I doubt she would have been able to answer.

My grandmother gave me some when I was pregnant and I didn't get any stretch marks either. The catch is I never got round to using the bio oil. Some people just don't get stretch marks.

It contains petroleum.
If you don't mind that, then l guess itd be okay.

Used it religiously twice sometimes three times a day when pregnant and I am covered in stretch marks

I tried and it gave me an attack of cystic acne. I have very oily skin though, so maybe it was just too much of a good thing.

I didn't use it and I have no stretch marks. I don't think it's safe to assume if you don't have any it's due to using bio oil. Some folks get stretch marks, others don't.
