How ong should 7/8 trousers be?

I'm 5 foot 7 and in Boden a regular full length trouser fits me perfectly. Just ordered some 7/8 in the recent promo (also in regular) and I'm not convinced they don't just look as if they have shrunk in the wash - they are a fair bit longer than I expected. I've got them on with slip on trainers, and they are just touching the top of the trainer at the back - not the shoe itself but that soft notch thing a lot of trainers have at the heel. At the front you can see a bit of skin above my shoe, but not masses. Certainly not a full ankle. They'd probably look better with heels, but that's not an option. Is this right?

Agree with Cardoon about them just hitting top of ankle bone. In other words should be 'ankle grazers'.
