how many pairs of footwear do you have & does your wardrobe work for you ?

Regarding the footwear, do you just wear the same few pairs ? Or get decent wear out of them all ? Do you have good stuff in your wardrobe that you can always rely on ? Or is it just a jumble of items that don't really work with each other ? Thanks ! Am in a moment of 'I have no clothes'

I have about 60 pairs, of which I use about 35. All my shoes are black, nude or tan (plus one pair of pewter ones). Too many shoes, I know! I only have 6 bags though (nude, black, tan, one pewter clutch) so I like to think that makes up for the shoe overload?!

My clothes...oh dear, I have one wardrobe, one hanging rail and a huge chest of drawers for them and it's still a tight squeeze! Partly it is that I love clothes, partly it's that I am same size as 20 years ago and always have been. Am slowly decluttering though.

Unsurprisingly, given the quantity of stuff I have, I never have days of "nothing to wear" but I understand the trick is genuinely to have some plain, uniform-type outfits or pieces which always go together? A lot of my clothes are neutrals (am a sucker for a good white blouse or black/grey penail skirt which I could never get bored of) which I think might also help?

My shoes fall into the following categories:
Winter: flat long boots, flat ankle boots, brogues. Heeled boots.
Summer: ballet flats, sandals, mid heeled sandals.
Formal: black patent/satin/leather high heels
Other: 16 pairs irregular choice heels.

My clothes are all blacks and greys with a few pops of bright so I can always match something up. I live in black skinnies and t- shirts, so interesting shoes are an easy option to jazz things up a bit.

I have loads of pairs of boots (about eight or ten pairs) because I love them and it has to be HOT for me to bear my feet. They're ugly, and always cold.

Other than that, I have one pair of high heel Mary Jane type things which I love but haven't worn for ages, one pair of trainers. That's it I think.

I buy ballet pumps and flip flops for the summer and chuck them at the end of the summer.

I don't have masses of clothes, I do buy regularly but also declutter regularly, and I feel I've always got lots to wear.

Don't have many clothes but I literally have tonnes of boots, not so many shoes.
Winter: boots or DM shoes
Summer: Flip flops or converse.

Rare occasion: Hasbeens sky high or heeled shoe boots.

Shoes-wise I have:
Black leather biker boots
Black suede over the knee boots
Burgundy Chelsea ankle boots
Tall chestnut UGG boots
Gym trainers
Nike Air Force Ones
Brown brogues
Black leather drivers
Leopard print loafers
Black pointed flats
Flip flops

I also buy regularly and declutter regularly. If I haven't picked a dress/top for a few weeks and it's not due to season/going out etc, then I will eBay it.

I've picked up lots of new work things recently from Zara and M&S.

My name is CountFosco and I am a shoeaholic.

I have just had a clearout and got rid of several pairs of kittenheels I've not worn for years along with a beloved pair of mules that are falling to pieces. And that's after having a previous clearout of old trainers a couple of months ago. Which leaves me with (deep breath)...

1 pair Wellies
1 pair Walking boots
2 pairs flat knee high boots
1 pair flat chelsea boots
1 pair DMs
8 pairs of trainers
5 pairs of high heels that rarely get worn
2 pairs Birkenstocks (Yara and Gizeh)
1 pair Brogues
4 pairs smartish flat shoes of other styles

Just bought some loafers that don't stay on (too wide at the heel) so will be going back but still need a silver pair of smartish shoes for work. I never wear the same pair of shoes 2 days running and wear all (except the heels) regularly.

I dread buying new shoes, mainly because I can never find anything that is really comfortable. I can't wear heels anymore, or closed shoes once the warm weather arrives as my feet get very hot.

I have to replace my sandals for summer this year which I'm not looking forward to.

I have a small minimalist wardrobe for winter and summer with items that overlap for spring and summer. I usually have 5 bottoms with 9 tops in a season for everyday wear. As I'm 5'4 I wear shoes in the same colour as my outfit to give me height.

currently I have
1 pair of boots for the winter. (1 year)
1 pair of trainers for walking (6 months)
1 pair of black sandals for summer (3 years)
1 pair of white sandals for summer (3 years)
1 pair of black sandal type shoe for summer evenings (6 years)

I hate buying shoes (also because it's so hard to find something comfortable that fits).

I own:
1 pair of winter boots
1 pair of shoes (brown camper peu)
1 pair of sandals

That is it.

This prompted me to have a look:
4 black ankle boots
1 grey ankle boots
1 beige ankle boots
1 black Uggs
1 purple Uggs
1 grey Uggs
1 black suede over the knee boots
1 purple suede over the knee boots
1 black suede heels
1 black suede flats
Mint, silver, rose gold, burgundy, grey ballet flats
Mint, silver, white "converse"
Mint, silver, black, purple Havaianas
Mint, grey Superstars
Black sandals
White sandals
2 Irregular Choice
☺️

In my defence, in the last 4 years I've bought the Havaianas, the Superstars and one pair of black ankle boots. All the others are 5-20+ years old.

I struggle with shoes because I have small wide feet. My shoe wardrobe is:

3 x pairs of flat, black Chelsea boots
1 x pair of block heeled Chelsea boots, also black
1 x pair of black Ugg biker boots (mainly for rain/snow)
Trainers - silver Nikes, gold Nikes, Stan Smiths, Gazelles, Supergas
Saltwater sandals
Black flat suede brogues
Tan flat loafers

Clothes-wise, I mainly wear short-ish skirts/dresses with tights/boots in winter, but find summer trickier to manage, particularly for work.

Just come back to this thread and it's served to highlight that I have far, far too many clothes and shoes. The decluttering must continue! There are just so many beautiful things around... (and contrary to what you all must think, I am actually ok at saving! It's just that any disposable income post-bills/livings costs etc. goes on pretty things :( )

My work is smart casual so I generally wear the same stuff for work as at the weekend. I've got about a million Breton tops but hate buying bottoms as nothing fits my shape so hardly any skirts, jeans or trousers. I would say my wardrobe is really, really boring!!

I've got 2 pairs of ankle boots
A pair of brogues
A pair of sandals
A pair of Sketchers

...and that's it. DH is always moaning that I have too many pairs of shoes so I feel better reading this thread Grin

KitKats28 & Gah81 I'm intrigued, where do you store all your footwear? Smile

I've only got a few pairs less than KitKats and when we had our joiner build in our wardrobe I asked for shelves at the bottom to store my shoes. DH has his under the bed because there is no room/ My Mum (also a shoeaholic) now has a walk in wardrobe but when I was a child she had a fitted cupboard in the bay window in her bedroom for her 'good' shoes.

TBH I'm amazed how few some of you have, when I go on holiday (in Scotland so we're taking the car and I have a bag just for shoes) I couldn't survive with less than: walking boots, 2 pairs of trainers, Birkenstocks and a nice pair for nights out. To only have 5 pairs of shoes in total? That's less than DH has and I'm always telling him he needs more shoes, he wears them out so quickly because they never get a chance to rest.

I only have three (yes really). My boots are 4 years old and will last at least another winter. My campers are nearly 3 years old and still going strong (I'll just replace them with exactly the same shoes when I need new ones). My sandals are 2 years old and totally fine for a long time yet.

If I required more dressy shoes for any occasion, I'd need to bite the bullet and go shoe shopping. But I can't wear heels (due to arthritis in my spine and sacrum) so I'd have to prioritise comfort anyway.

I don't have very many clothes either tbh. I hate shopping for them too so I try to avoid it as much as possible and just exist with the minimum of clothing.

DH has more shoes and clothes than me (6 pairs of shoes) but he doesn't have loads of footwear or clothing and rarely buys anything new.

Btw, that's not some kind of hideous 'we are above owning lots of clothes' virtue signalling.

I genuinely would rather have a filling than go clothes or shoe shopping. I really despise it and I can't be bothered ordering 3 sizes of stuff online and then sending it all back because it doesn't fit/looks crap. I'm an awkward shape (quite short, with longer legs than body but boobs that are too big to look good in anything) and pretty much everything looks terrible on me so I just stick with the stuff I have that looks OK and hope none of it wears out.

Just out of interest, why waste time in S&B if you are not interested in clothes and hate shopping milady? There are worthy threads to occupy the serious minded!

Wear 90% of time:

Schuh black ankle boots, low heel
River Island ugg type ankle boots
Onitsuka Tiger trainers
M&S backless slippers
Clarks black flats (spring/summer)

Also own:

Clarks lined biker boots
Clarks nude wedges
ASOS bronze brogues
ASOS maroon patent MJs
Black suede knee highs (owned 10+ yrs)
Clarks patterned flats (like Toms)
Cheap silver boots
Various cheap sandals
2 x gold heels
Black closed toe chunky heels with strap (Xmas party)
Brown DM walking type boots

That is a lot more than I thought!

I didn't say I wasn't interested in clothes. I said they look crap on me and I hate shopping (because it's depressing and not in the least fun). I am always hopeful that I might find something that doesn't look utter shit on me (hence reading S&B). It doesn't help that my taste does not match the stocking decision of local retailers at all. Shoes are a nightmare for me due to my arthritis and my useless feet, but I harbour hopes that one day I'll find a supplier of clothing that looks alright on me.

I purposefully said it wasn't because I've got better things to think about than clothes and shoes.

But hey get on your high horse and pretend that I think you're superficial and vacuous if it makes you feel better.

OCSockOrphanage · 24/02/2017 22:48

Probably guilty as charged! Apologies, sorry, and with best wishes for relief from your arthritis. There have been posters on S&B who just want to tell the world how high minded they are. Happy to accept that I am wrong here.

The best bit of being a wheelchair user is that your shoes don't wear out and you can wear ridiculous shoes that you wouldn't be able to walk in if you could walk 😉.

Nora I've got a couple of plastic boxes under the bed for shoes and I lob the boots in the bottom of my wardrobe. They don't take up any room that I would be able to use for anything else.

I have a clothes and shoes habit Blush

I am not sure how many pairs of shoes I have precisely, but off the top of my head I can name
2 pairs of high top dunlops
2 pairs of trainers
2 pairs of black ankle boots
3 pairs of Birkenstock sandals
1 pair of Bearpaw boots
4 pairs of flats/ballet flats
2 pairs of DM's
1 pair of New Rocks
7 pairs of Irregular Choice
1 pair of Ruby Shoo
1 pair of clarks heels

That is not the whole lot, there are more, I just can't remember what they are Blush The DM's and New Rocks are all about 15 years old. The ballet flats are generally just asda/Tesco cheapies I buy in the summer that only last the season then get slung. I tend to live in my Bearpaw in the Winter, Dunlops in spring and autumn and my birkies and ballet flats in the summer. The heels are for 'going out' in. Trainers are my gym shoes.

I've got a collection of about 30 Lindybop dresses, 6 pairs of black leggings long, 4 short. 6 burgundy, long. 1 pink short, 1 navy short,
I've got 7 other 'skater' type dresses
There's a few pairs of harem pants & jeggings and maybe 4 or 5 tops.
I also own about 15 pairs of pjs as I don't like wearing my dresses around the house, so I slob in pjs.
