Help me solve an aftershave mystery

Posting for my sister who isn't on MN. She's getting married soon and wants to give her husband-to-be a bottle of his favourite aftershave, which is no longer on the market. It's called Reminscence for Men by Zoe Lacoste. She has a picture of his old bottle which I'll post in a moment. There appears to have been a package redesign at some point as all the pictures on Google Images are of a much more modern-looking design (will post one of these as well), but she's not 100% sure it's the same scent. Can anyone help 1) confirm if the two bottles are the same aftershave and 2) if so where can she get hold of either if they're no longer made? I've contacted the company to ask and they've not been very forthcoming. It's definitely not their current Patchouli brand. Thanks everyone!

A quick email or call to these people themselves will answer your questions.

Thanks user, I've contacted them but they couldn't help, hence resorting to the MN hivemind.

They couldn't help? The actual manufacturers could not advise you if the new one smells the same?

No, the more modern looking bottle was launched in the 1990s and they couldn't tell me if it was the same as the earlier bottle. I'll ask on strawberry.net, thanks! I'm a complete perfume dullard, just trying to help out my sister, so all help much appreciated Smile

What perfume house is named on the second bottle? The photo is too pixilated to read it.

Is the first photo Zoe Lacoste, or Zoe Coste?

Ok, I've found the second one- the perfume house is called Reminiscence, so I'd wager that the two perfumes are unrelated.

If it's any help, the second one is citrussy, main notes are orange flower, bergamot, lemon etc.

I'll keep digging.

Unless the original bottle was the first in a line and then the company started to call itself Reminiscence....

Thanks vintage. Zoe Coste (not Lacoste, that's my mistake) founded the company Reminiscence so I think they're both made by the same people. I really think the second is a 90s redesign of the earlier 80s packaging, and if so I've found a couple of bottles on Ebay, but I'd like to be sure they're the same thing before getting her to shell out fifty quid.

Reminiscence perfume is actually a line made Reminiscence jewelers. They have a shop on the Kings Road in London, and last time I was in there (admittedly years ago!), they stocked all their scents. You could give them a ring, but the chances of anyone remembering what the scent smelled like, and which of their current line is similar is fairly slim. Worth a shot though. Google says this is their number: 020 7581 8250

Les Nereides used to be a few doors down - also a jeweller with a great line in perfumes. As I recall they were connected in some way.

I wondered why I kept getting websites with jewellery!

Well, Bulgari is another jewelry house that originally produced its perfumes to complement its range and sell in store! So there is 'form' for it!

This magazine page sends you on to the official modern site. There are a trio of bottles marketed as Rem.

If you're on a desktop, you might be able to get a translation.

Thanks for the link. I spoke to company HQ in Paris, no joy.
