What to wear when you work at home

I am currently not working, as we are waiting for our daughter to be born (through surrogacy) and I admit I've been slobbing around in 'lounge wear'. I'd like to smarten up a wee bit, if only to make myself feel a bit better. And yes, I am fully aware that once baby arrives, loungewear will be more than adequate. Grin

However, when I return to work, I plan to work from home and would like to have some decent clothes to wear.

I don't want to spend a huge amount of cash as I am 'between sizes' (12-14) and planning to lose some weight - and I am short and pear-shaped. I also don't find jeans comfortable (although I have found a pair of softer jeans from DP that are OK).

Any ideas please?

My working-from-home uniform at the moment is a pair of plain dark leggings, a thermal top, and a not-too-grotty jumper. Comfortable, and presentable if I have to answer the door or take out the bins!

I wear leggings, t shirt dress type things with a knitted waistcoat or cardigan, scarf perhaps .... and my slippers.

Sometimes jeans/black trousers with a nice jumper or shirt.

I don't do slobbing around very well which DH thinks is mad.

So, when working from home I wear one of three options. I'm afraid two are very slobby, but it's only if I am not going out, and nobody is coming at the door.)

  1. Pyjamas. I have a day time set, so I don't wear anything I've slept in! I know that's a bit weird.
  2. Comfy trousers and a hoodie, or a jumper that vaguely matches.
  3. Jeans and a nice jumper or top.

I always wear woolly socks or slippers too, because my flat is very cold!

I wear the same that I'd wear outside the house. Usually jeans and a top. Sometimes massive socks if it's cold. I don't do loungewear very well; it feels too casual to then be working in and I don't tend to get changed between "daytime clothes" and "bedtime"; so I own few bits of loungewear and it's almost never worn.

I always get dressed when wfh, have to do the school run anyway, wear skinnies and a shirt or a tea dress and tights. I need to not wear pjs or leisure wear - I'd never get my head in the right mode for work!

Dark leggings, socks, v neck top. It honestly doesn't cross my mind beyond that - one of the perks of wfh.

I work from home 2-3 days per week and tend to stick to jeans/ jumpers/ tshirts. I tend to have to do nursery run when at home hence wearing 'proper' clothes. Some days I do opt for gym leggings if I need comfort!
