Cloud Nine or GHDS?

My trusty 10 year old GHDs have gone to straightener heaven.

Read some reviews that suggest Cloud Nines are better than new GHDs. They're more expensive though sadly.

Does anyone have an opinion on which are best?

After much umming and arghing, I recently replaced my ancient GHDs with Cloud Nines and I love them. IMO they're far superior to GHDs and are really lovely to use. I'm particularly pleased that they have a temperature control switch - I manage to straighten my long, thick hair on the middle temp and it's a far better finish than with my old GHDs.

My GHDs were about 5/6 years old when they stopped working about 2 years ago, I got a pair of GHDs again and they were no where near as good as my previous pair.

My mum recently treated me to some cloud 9s and they are wonderful. So much better than GHDs. Someone told me, the man who created the GHD left and started up cloud 9, I'm not sure how accurate that is.

I don't have experience of Cloud 9 sorry, but possibly a cheaper alternative? I replaced my GHD's with a less expensive brand called Glamoriser at Christmas and they are fantastic. I have mid length thick, wavy hair and the variable temperature is great, adapts to your hair type allegedly. Just checked and they are currently on offer in Argos and Look Fantastic, £49.99. I really rate them.

Well, sounds like GHDs are out of the equation! Will go read reviews for the glamourisers! Might make decision on how much my work bonus is in February

I replaced my GHD's with Cloud 9's a few months ago when they broke. They're great, especially for creating waves.

Cloud 9. Yes to original GHD guy leaving and going on to start Cloud 9. They are good and are supposed to be kinder to hair than other types of straightener.

Having had Remington ones in the past, I'd agree. The Remington ones had adjustable temperature and 'ionic' technology (?) but left my fine, highlighted (fragile) hair rougher and drier than the Cloud 9 version. I use heat protectant and my hair is dry when I use straighteners to try and minimise damage.

Cloud 9 for the wide-plates. They give lovely soft, bouncy curls like the ones only usually available in fancy hairdressers. They really are the better straighteners and mine are still in brilliant condition so wear pretty well (I'm notoriously shite at taking care/putting away).

Having said that, you definitely need heat protection spray with any straighteners, but especially the Cloud 9's. I use the Revlon 10 one from Amazon and it's fab.

Both me and my hairdresser bought cloud 9 straighteners to replace GHDs, loved them until both our pairs broke just out of warranty.

I replaced with corioliss c1 and couldn't be happier.

I had ghds and replaced them with cloud 9s. They are so much better than my old ghds.
