Anyone remember my thread about whether to buy a Babyliss Curl Secret?

Well DH got me one for my birthday. It is going to take me a bit of practice with the sectioning, I have thick shoulder length very straight hair but this is my first attempt if anyone is wondering what the results are on a normal plain person.

No-one remembers 😳

Probably wondering what the hell "plain" means. That got my back up.

Is this the gadget that sort of sucks your hair in and spits out curls?

fivefoottwowitheyesofblue Fri 10-Feb-17 20:09:04

Thanks for the update. Is it easy to use. I couldn't get on at all with the other babyliss thing that people raved about (big brush that blows out hot air) so am reluctant to throw more money at something that may not work!

SorrelSoup Fri 10-Feb-17 20:12:19

Looks lovely. How much is it?

Maudlinmaud Fri 10-Feb-17 20:12:54

I don't remember op, but I want one. I have the babyliss big hair and raved about, I've had maybe 4 or 5 at this stage. But it was pulling my hair out and I had to retire it.

I want one of these now. Your curls look lovely.

I've got one and I love it. It does take time, though. Straightening is so much quickergrin

AliceInHinterland Fri 10-Feb-17 20:15:25

It looks lovely. You have great hair - not so plain!

NomDePlumeReloaded Fri 10-Feb-17 20:15:53

Your hair looks great bejazzled

AllTheBabies Fri 10-Feb-17 20:21:12

How long does it take?

Bejazzled Fri 10-Feb-17 21:05:46

Thanks for the kind comments. It took me about 45 minutes unfortunately. Because the sections have to be accurate 3 cm or you risk a tangle. I'll probably do it for the weekend as won't have time in the morning before work. Hoping to get quicker at it with practice though.
I still have a full head of curls, they haven't dropped.

Bejazzled Fri 10-Feb-17 21:07:04

P.s our local Costco had them for £60ish but they sold out really quickly.

Maudlinmaud Fri 10-Feb-17 21:30:26

I have really fine hair so it would probably take a lot less time for me. I'm sold! grin

If it gives you hope - I've got quicker with mine and can now do my whole head - hair v similar to yours - in less than 30mins. And i always get compliments when i have done it!

imsoexcited0000 Fri 10-Feb-17 22:12:35

I like it but I get a heart-stop moment everytime it sucks my hair in. I can't get to grips with how to do the back of my head, had to get dh to do blush. I have babyliss big hair as well which I love!

burnishedsilver Fri 10-Feb-17 22:43:33

I cant get it to do big curls like that. It takes me an age to do my whole head and the result is more like this.

Bejazzled Sat 11-Feb-17 00:18:44

What setting do you use burnished ? Although those spiral curls are lovely

burnishedsilver Sun 12-Feb-17 00:13:31

It doesn't seem to matter what setting I use. The curls don't last as long on the lower setting but they're the same type of curl as on the higher setting - spiral with flat roots. Am I doing something wrong?

YouHadMeAtCake Sun 12-Feb-17 00:16:28

Looks lovely OP! Really pretty.

Doesn't take a lot to get your back up obviously vivienne

WhooooAmI24601 Sun 12-Feb-17 10:02:09

I hate mine and have given up on it completely because the curls just drop out within an hour and I look like a Bee Gee instead of Gisele.

Love the results you got though, it looks lovely.

I have one too. I don't use it all the time as it does take a while but for special occasions or bad hair days it is great.

LittleOyster Sun 12-Feb-17 12:49:17

Your curls look lovely, OP. I want!

Scabetty Sun 12-Feb-17 16:08:31

Bought one at christmas. Love it but takes time.

cansu Sun 12-Feb-17 16:19:02

Bought one for 25.00 on ebay. Love it. It is hard to do back but rests look great if messy. I have thick shoulder length hair and curl or waves seem to last for a few days.
