And Other Stories dress - opinions please!

I ordered this dress in the sale from and other stories and I'm not sure whether to send it back. The material is quite stiff black velvet, and it has a white collar. I'm not sure when I'd wear it - it looks too smart for work/day time but a bit funeral ish for night. I'm size 10 and 5"2 (if that helps?) I guess if I'm asking, I should probably send it back but I'd like to know what others think. So, opinions please!

The link doesn't work, but I know the dress and love it - I almost bought it full price before Christmas. I didn't, however, buy it in the sale because I felt I probably wouldn't wear it now. If it helps at all, in my head I styled it with polka dot black opaque tights and black Stan Smith trainers.

If you don't have any events in your life where you would wear it, then what's the point in having it?

That was reviewed by someone on The Pool who described it as looking like Pauline's m'audition dress from Ballet Shoes so I immediately wanted it! High necked things are iffy on me though so I didn't risk it. I would wear it to the pub with flats or boots and a leather jacket though.

I like it, it's got a 60s vibe, I have loads of dressy dresses and now I'm older and more confident I wear them to work, to meet friends for a coffee, I dress up all the time. It makes me happy and I like to feel a bit glamorous on a day to day basis.

I think it looks awful, but maybe it looks better on a person.

That's not really the kind of opinion you were after.

If you like it and will wear it - do it.

If wearing it would need you ti have a different kind of life, or become a different kind of person, you can probably think of something better to do with your £35.

I like it, however I bought something similar and my husband asked if I was going to a fancy dress party as a nun!!
