Hair cut help

Can anyone help? I have had the same haircut since I was 4 so 34 years I kid you not! I have a boring jaw length bob which is lightened with highlights. I have no fringe.

My hair is fine and very straight. I need a new hair do that is a bit more fun and less mum bob. I don't mind going shorter or having a fringe but i do have a big moon face and wear glasses. My dc are getting older now and I have just started back at work so I am trying to regain my mojo and I think a good hair do would help no end.

Does anyone have any inspiration.... Please.

Short cuts can be very flattering and easy to wash and dry each day showering

Nothing to add but watching with interest as you sound exactly like me only I'm 7 years older!

I have had it cut up at the back so it's very short and more angled towards the front and every other slight variation in between. I am thinking of having it cut up over the ear one side and slightly longer on the other. Not sure if I am on trend enough though ( part way through a wardrobe and weight overhaul). Hmmmm

I have reservations about such a short cut. It really exposes the neck and could make you face look even rounder. Also, you'd have to use a lot of product to give it some volume, but (ime) fine hair gets weighed down by product and can look even flatter after only a short time.

It might be just my unsuccessful attempts at very short hair Grin but worth thinking about. And hell to grow out.

Thanks bagel that's my fear. I have had a very short do before and have promptly grown it out. I HAVE to wash my hair everyday anyway and I do needs lots of product to stop it looking meh and greasy.

I have asked my hairdresser but I don't get much feedback - moved to a new town a yr ago and struggling to find a good one.

I was thinking that I usually wear one side of my hair behind my ears. I am getting to the point where I am so bored with my hair I could try anything. I am also considering going full on blonde rather than more subtle highlights ( naturally dark blonde)

I'm bit of a nightmare for changing my hair. I rarely keep it the same colour or style for longer than a few months. I just like change. And I'm constantly seeing a picture in a magazine or online and going 'ohhh I like that'.

That's how last week I ended up with what chips described and I love it. It's an asymmetric short bob apparently - attached is one of the pictures I found. Mine is pretty much the same colour (at the moment) but a touch longer on the shorter side of that set of pictures. It's about an inch on the back, longer on the crown. Just covers my left ear (I can just tuck it behind) but the right hand side is jaw length at the longest. Very choppy. Lots of volume.

Its actually not as time consuming to style compared to my last hair cut - a razor sharp bob which needed flat irons every day. I just need to tame the unruly bits at the back with my irons and then the longer bit I can either straighten, curl or just leave a bit wavy and add a bit of hair spray. My hair is pretty thick but I do think it would suit finer hair.

I've recently gone from jaw length bob to long pixie,I've got fine straight hair as you describe. I love it,it's quick and easy to dry/style (I wash mine every morning).

For colour, instead of going full on blonde you could add more blond to frame your face. Like this

Ohh- I do like the pic, that's what I was thinking. Retainer- I like the first one you posted esp the colour. I have never had anything other than highlights so I am worried about keeping the colour upkeep. I feel just so stuck in a rut. I look like I have given up and want that to change and look like I actually give a damn. Now I don't have youthful beauty and slimness on my side I am having to work harder! Damn it!

Last summer I was at the beach alot and my hair went a bit too blonde. So I have been having 2 dark to 1 lighter packs put in when I have my highlights but I might just go all lighter this time. Def going for the cut.

I will also have my eye brows and lashes tinted as part of my transformation. My face just looks so washed out. Apart from some gentle tweezing I have never done anything to my brows but they seem to be quite the thing now. ( been in a baby bubble/rut but time to sort it out now)

Very excited now!

Brilliant,I'm sure you'll love the cut, your hair sounds really similar to mine and it's such an easy style to manage but looks like you've made an effort. It still frames the face so it's not harsh but you can tuck it all behind your ears for a change.

I was worried about having all my face on show and not having it covered by hair but I usually wear my hair behind my ears anyway iyswim. I will have to learn how to style the longer bit so it doesn't go all flat but at least I will only have half a head of hair to style in the morning!

Honestly it's fab. Go for it. I've also just had a baby and have a 2.5 year old and my previous mid lengths made me feel a bit dowdy. It's the shortest I've ever been (on that one side). My hairdresser said it's not difficult to grow the shorter side out a bit if I decided I didn't like it or when I next decided to change it - let it grow down to the same length as the longer side to even it up and it's an inverted bob. Then just let that grow out. Bur my hair does grow freakishly fast! Pics when you've done it!
