Outfit for graduation

Hi Everyone,
I just found out the date for my graduation in October I also have the graduation ball to go to as well so I'm looking to buy an outfit. The troubles is I want to look stunning as there will be lots of pictures. The trouble is I tend to look slightly frumpy in things. I'm 5ft5, and slightly chunky pear shape size 14/16. I have quite a good figure disputed this. I have toyed with the idea of a dress or some type of suit type thing. I would love some advice on what to wear or some advice. I was thinking some kind of vintage style thing
