Skin care ingredient swots, has anyone had any success with these creams for keratosis pilaris?

I've done really well out of the skin care ingredients threads and the skin on my face is much improved, thanks to the skin care ingredients advice here!

So now I'm wondering if I can make a difference KP on my upper arms. I've been looking at the Paula's Choice creams here: www.paulaschoice.co.uk/shop/shop-by-skin-concern/keratosis-pilaris?gclid=CPX0pt3439ECFVQ_Gwod12IBUQ

But they're expensive. I know it's the urea that's supposed to do the trick, but I really don't like the smell of it and so I'd prefer something perfumed so that it was pleasurable as well IYSWIM.

Any thoughts?

Two things that made a massive difference to mine that are a) cheap and b) nice to use anyway!
Soap and glory clean on me shower gel. It's got fruit acids in it. I was washing with it daily and noticed it was having an effect so I started leaving it to sit on my upper arms a bit
Palmers anti ageing smoothing body lotion. Has BHA and AHA in. Smells quite strong but pleasant enough to use

If you wanted to top it off then flexitol I think has urea in and you could just shove a bit on last thing at night

I haven't, but coconut oil whipped with brown sugar is brilliant for this (and anywhere else). I don't use any other scrub.

You don't have to whip it if you don't have an electric whisk, it just changes the texture so it's easy to use.

I've tried flexitol but I cant deal with the slight pissy smell!

Dd has this on her arms and Flexitol did nothing.

She now uses the Olay Anti wrinkle toner and it has made a definite improvement. (It's the cheap as chips one with the purplish label, think it's salicylic) Nip and Fabs supposedly work as well, though I always found them a bit Emperor's New Clothes.

There is a proper cream, can't remember what it's called, you can get it online Will go and have a google.

CCS Footcare Cream contains urea, smells nice and has worked very well on my upper arms. I haven't needed to try it on my face though.

Wouldn't looking for a lotion with BHAs or some other chemical exfoliant be better than urea? I thought urea was mainly for moisturising in skincare...*

Nip + Fab pads have made more difference to mine than anything else.

You'll want AHA, BHA, Retinol, or Urea in high concentrations if physical exfoliation (dry brush or scrub) doesn't do the job for you. It really depends on what your skin responds to so it's a bit trial and error. Also requires a bit of experimentation, Urea works well in combination with Lactic Acid (AHA) but it may be that you respond better to Glycolic (also an AHA) or Glycolic in combination with BHA, etc.

Personally, dry brushing and Retinol works best which is a pain because for the body ideally, you need higher concentrations of Retinol which would only be available on prescription. Lactic acid is a close second and they're also the two actives my face responds to best so I do think that is somewhat indicative.

The most potent thing I think available is a 30% Glycolic and Vitamin C body lotion (think it's called Advanced something) from Eneomey (older version spelt as Mene & Moy) but you have to get the 15% version first (called Revitalising something) then build up to the 30% and use SPF if you'll be exposing the area to the sun. I think it's about the same price as the Paula's Choice and I'd rather get the higher % that you can potentially use less often and isn't swimming in silicones, but probably best to try and see if your skin responds to glycolic well or not with a cheaper product with a lower % like Nip & Fab pads or similar first. The olay toner mentioned above is a cheap BHA but I believe it's no longer being sold.

I've had wonderful improvement with dry brushing and Balance Me's super toning body oil- I only wish I'd discovered it 30 years ago!

This is great, thank you for all your suggestions, I'm saving this thread to refer to!

I've decided to conduct a test: left arm nip+fab dragon's blood (salicylic acid and hyaluronic acid) and right arm Ameliorate (urea and AHA).

If I get no results from either, I'll move on to try some of the other suggestions.
