Help me with my nails!

My nails look good when they've just been manicured. Then pretty much as soon as I take the polish off a week later they start to get flaky, then break.

How can I stop that cycle? Never get my nails done ever? I've tried several of those strengtheners and moisturisers that you paint on, but they don't work, and I've tried lots of different polish removers.

Do some people's nails just not cope with polish?
