Keep or return? LK Bennett Boots

I bought these boots in the LK Bennett sale, £115 down from £295, a bargain, non? Shall I keep them? If I send them back would I regret it (they are sold out now)?

They are ...'pinker' than I expected and I worry they may be too lairy, but they might look great when they are a bit more battered. They are velvet. they have a nice block heel. They make my feet look diddy. I would wear them (maybe) with black skinny jeans and a slinky top/blazer.

What to do? What do you think? Are they gorgeous or hideous??

They're a bit lairy for me but I know some people who could pull them off. As you're umming about them I'd say you're not the type who can carry them off so I'd return them

Would you get much wear out of them? Or would you feel that they are so recognisable that you couldn't wear them very much? I think it all depends on how they go with your current wardrobe and normal style. If you wear jeans regularly then you might wear them a lot. Personally I tend to wear more colourful clothes / skirts, so would rather have a more neutral nice pair of boots.

I think the fact that they were in a Sake says it all. I hate them.

I do wear jeans all the time and this is the style of boot I would happily wear on a night out with skinny jeans. I do hanker after that slightly rocky lock and have crazy hair so I think I could pull them off, it's whether I dare to!

I just don't want to have Shoe Regret if I send them back and spend years thinking about them!

They're gorgeous, but definitely I think something that one can either carry off or one cannot. Are they comfy for walking? When would you actually wear them? I think the problem with them is that they might date quite quickly and/or you could be sick of the sight of them in a year or two. So if you're not going to have them on your feet very often in that time, the cost per wear might be quite high.

Personally I think they're hideous - they look like the kind of thing Edina Monsoon would have worn in Ab Fab, but to each their own.

Can you think, off the top of your head, of 3 different outfits you will wear them with? If you can, and you love them, keep. If not, they should go back.

I think they will look awful when they are battered, and I think they woodland become battered very quickly.

They aren't my style at all so it's difficult to comment on whether you should keep them.

I couldn't pull them off, but I do like them. They are very 'now', though. My concern would be that I would wear them for the next two or three months, put them away for summer, and then find in autumn they are out of fashion. But I guess it depends on budget. I wouldn't want to pay £115 on something I would only wear for a short time, but maybe your budget is greater.

Thanks all. Ok, they're going back. Instead of keeping them in the box and getting them out now and again to look at them, I've put them out in my hall and every time I've walked past them I've winced!

Back they go! Thank you.

Keep them, and wear them to death, and enjoy them Smile

I bought some bright purple suede ankle boots 7 years ago. I can count the number of times I've worn them on one hand. I also have some black suede ankle boots and I wear them to death. I think they're so out there that it really limits what you wear with them. Or maybe I'm not as "out there" as I think I am.

Sending your velvet ones back is the right decision. Even though they're fabulous.

Good choice, OP.

All I could think was one accidental dunking in a stray puddle and they're ruined.

Chin up those boots are lovely! I have some knee high purple boots I have worn to death.

I may shed one tiny, regretful tear as I lovingly place them back in their box and shroud them with tissue paper...

Then I'll be over it!

Yes, chinup, those purple boots are lovely and they make me think of Prince, which can only be a good thing.

They ARE lovely but "it's raining" or "I'm walking too far to wear them" or "they don't go with that skirt" or there's always a hundred reasons why they don't get worn.

I must try harder with them. It's like they're so loud, that the rest of the outfit really has to be quite muted or I look like something from a children's TV programme.

I love the boots and they are really trendy but on the other hand side they are really hard to match with something and not suitable for everyday wear so have a think if they are really worth to keep just for occasional wear.

Clearly I am in the minority but I love those velvet boots, I have a black silk shirt dress with a full(ish) knee length skirt which I think they they would go well with. Blush

I love them, don't send them back! If you can afford them, keep them - they will look great with the outfit you have in mind.

There has been a strange turn in events...I took the boots to the post office to return them but for some reason the bar code on the returns label wouldn't scan and they wouldn't take them. So they had to come home with me again.

Is this a sign? Are the boots destined to be mine after all?

Yes yes yes!!!! It definitely is a sign - the cosmos has spoken, you must keep them!!! Grin Wink

I do think they will look fantastic with the outfit you described too, perhaps with bright lipstick, nail polish, a scarf or jewellery?

I'd still say return, sorry Grin
