trying to find a long black, pencil maxi skirt (in-store)

It sounds easy, a long black skirt … but I am having such difficulty finding one! Either they have big splits in, or lace, or pleating at the top (not flattering), etc. One made of jersey cotton would be ideal, to ankle length, that simply goes straight up and down, and doesn't flare.
I have tried Primark, H&M, M&S, New Look, Debenhams and loads of others.
Would prefer to try in a shop, rather than buy online. I live in a city, so have access to most stores.
