Help me out of my rut! Blogs etc...

Hi,
I've been stuck in a style rut for ages and would really like some help to reform my sorry wardrobe!
I'm 28 and a size 16 (working on that but it is what it is at the moment...)
I'm a GP and live near London.
I am really struggling to find a style that's 'me' and have saved up a pot of money to buy some stuff once I've decided!
I need new clothes for work (aiming for smart ish but approachable) and also for weekends and nights out. I tend to spend free time at the weekends in the countryside but don't want to be too farmer themed! Conversely , nights out tend to be smart London bars.
I feel frumpy in everything and would welcome any ideas! I was wondering whether it might help to look at some style blogs but I don't know where to start looking for good ones.
I've been thinking about trying a John Lewis personal shopper but I'm not sure how I can tell them what I want if I'm not sure myself...
