Personal shopper

After always having a strong identity and expressing myself with clothes, 2 kids later... I am in a rut. Aside from great underwear (thank you s&b gurus) i have realised all my clothes are over 3 years old (pre babies) or hideous (brought cheep to last till I found my normal). So I have decided I want to treat myself to a personal shopper day. If any of you have done it:
Where did you go?
Were you happy in the clothes you were put in/did you feel like you?
What time of year is good to go?
How much did you spend (if it isn't too personal)?

Like you, I was in a bit of a rut so I had a style experience (2 hours) with a personal shopper at John Lewis. I got on well with the assistant who asked me about what I was looking for, my likes and dislikes, and if I was happy to try different things that would usually be outside my comfort zone. I was looking for casual everyday wear, and she matched me to things that would compliment my existing wardrobe (skinny jeans and flats, my go to "mum" wardrobe) and that would be practical for me to wear. I tried on lots of things, some suited and some didn't. The personal shopper used my hits and misses to guide further choices, and I chose a mini capsule wardrobe that I could mix and match. I got some tops, a wrap dress, some long cardigans, a coloured denim skirt (something I would never have picked up myself), and some footwear. I spent more than I would usually spend on myself but I'm really pleased with the outcome since the clothes are stylish rather than fashionable so I'll be able to wear them season after season. I also have ideas to expand my wardrobe in future, and I even managed to select a few sale items.

I'm hoping to get my fashion mojo back and this feels like a great first step to getting my confidence back. I hope this helps.
