Any recommendations for decent bras for 36gg/38h?!

Hello! I was hoping for a few recommendations for bras around the 36gg and 38h size... this is what I appear to be, brand dependent!
Something comfy and uplifting, that gives a good shape... I just ordered a few from brastop, none very good... any help would be lovely! fsmile

DianaT1969 Sun 18-Dec-16 15:05:33

Which brands and shapes from Brastop didn't work? Balconnet, full cup, plunge etc? I find Freya works best for me. Did the Brastop bras fit, but weren't comfy or flattering?

CashelGirl Sun 18-Dec-16 15:06:50

Elomi are a lovely fit and very comfortable. Not cheap but the girls are worth it! 😜

RaisingSteam Sun 18-Dec-16 15:08:33

This is probably no help as I'm a smaller backsize, but I have found Freya Fearne to be a great bra. Not too high under the arms, and wide but pretty straps.

DianaT1969 Sun 18-Dec-16 15:11:00

For comfort I find myself wearing the Panache non wired sports bra most days. The straps are wide, it lifts the bust and nothing digs in. I've got 2 colours and plan to get more. It doesn't work under all clothes of course, but under everyday tops and jumpers it's fine. Washes well too in the machine.

Cuttysarky Sun 18-Dec-16 17:17:37

The brastop ones were mostly full cup which I definitely don't like, I think I like balconette bras best... the closest was a fantasie side support, but after an hour wearing it felt quite uncomfortable, not supportive, had 'drooped' a bit... I shall have a look at Freya and Elomi bras tonight... DianaT I am still breastfeeding, is the sports bra quite 'minimising'? I have vague worries about milk supplies drying up if I have too firm a cup... this could be nonsense in my head of course!fgrin Thanks to all for suggestions, will get looking when kids are in bed, anybwebsite suggestions for a decent sale or offers?

DianaT1969 Sun 18-Dec-16 18:07:57

The Panache sports bra is a bit minimising.
I also find that Fantasie bras create a matronly down shape on me - pushes them down instead of rounded, if you see what I mean.
I like Brastop and Belle Lingerie for bra bargains. I used to wait for the January sales and buy them in Debenhams/House of Fraser, but it's a lottery on whether you'll find your size.

Cuttysarky Sun 18-Dec-16 18:30:36

Yes DianeT1968 I did find when I put my top over the bra the shape was a bit matronly... definitely not flattering..hadn't heard of Belle Lingerie, thanks! I know I should wait for new year bargains, however I have been rotating two ill fitting nursing bras for about 6 months now, washing every other day, I now have the 'bra rage', and don't think I can get through Christmas without at least one well fitting new one!

I'm a 36K and love the Alana from Bravissimo (it's their own brand). Panache tango is also comfortable (fractionally bigger in the cup so I'm down a size in that), but it's got very heavy embroidery that looks crisp under fine knitwear.

ilovecherries Sun 18-Dec-16 18:53:36

Looks crap. Not crisp.

ChoccyJules Sun 18-Dec-16 18:54:37

36G and have Melrose from Bravissimo in all colours, also their Nordic Rose which is super comfy.

PickAChew Sun 18-Dec-16 18:58:27

The thing is, here, asking for recommendations for well fitting bras is a bit like asking for recommendations for well fitting shoes!

bingohandjob Sun 18-Dec-16 19:05:35

I love the Satine from Bravissimo. Gives great shape, wide, supportive straps and band and looks good on. I was horrified when the fitter suggested it as it's moulded/lightly padded but she was absolutely spot on with the recommendation. It looks and feels great.

Lawnneedsmowing Sun 18-Dec-16 19:07:58

I've finally ditched padded and bought a few from thing ive done. Non padded has been so much better for 36g ...theyre thick so ok with tshirts

Polkadotties Sun 18-Dec-16 19:08:18

I love Freya decos. They give a nice lift and shape

AnotherEmma Sun 18-Dec-16 19:12:55

Get thee to Bravissimo.
I love Freya Deco but you need to try on a load of different brands and styles to see what suits you and you boobs.
Once you've found one or two you like you can always find deals online, but I think you need an actual shop for the initial search.

ggirl Sun 18-Dec-16 19:14:41

I am 36g and wear Prima Donna and Empriente bras , they're very comfy but very £££ .

Cuttysarky Sun 18-Dec-16 20:06:56

Wow, lots of praise for Bravissimo! Have just had a look at their site and I think I'll order a few to try, hopefully delivery will be quick. Freya deco has also been mentioned a few times, so I'll look into that too. I wish I could get to a shop to try lots on but no chance for a few weeks anyway... thank you all for taking the time to answer. X

I am a 38 H and I really rate this bra from m and s. It is really comfy and gives a good shape underneath clothes. I used to buy from bravissimo when I lived in a town with a shop but I found buying new styles tricky by post.
This bra I by no means sexy but it lifts and separates beautifully. And it's £16!

UncomfortableBadger Sun 18-Dec-16 21:58:09

I'm very jealous of you lovely lot who can get on with Freya bras! I'm a 38G and they fit terribly on me sad

M&S = absolute no for me.

Bizarrely, Sainsbury's fit really well.

Pour Moi fit well also (there's a cheapy EBay outlet).

Panache are a top choice for me too - literally hours of 'trial and error' in Bravissimo to find a style that suits smile

UncomfortableBadger Sun 18-Dec-16 21:59:12

...but once I found the style that worked, I bought it in several colours... and every 'new' colour released each season wink

carrotcakecupcake Sun 18-Dec-16 22:00:58

If you can get to a Bravissimo shop for a fitting I would highly recommend it! I don't have one near me, but was in Liverpool for work and on a whim popped in. Best thing I ever did - came out with two fantastic fitting bras and no more droop!!

catlover1987 Sun 18-Dec-16 22:36:14

I'm a 38h and recently bought a few bras from m&s which were a surprisingly good fit for me. Otherwise, it's Debenhams or bravissimo. Absolutely hate bra shopping!!

PickAChew Sun 18-Dec-16 22:57:49

Badger Freya don't work for me at al because the straps fall down, but Panache don't either because the cups are too far forward!

I need wide apart cups but not at all wide shoulders. Only Curvy Kate/Flirtelle seem to manage that!

Tokelau Sun 18-Dec-16 23:10:11

I am the same size as you OP, and I like the Gem by Freya. I have three of them! They are out of stock in Bravissimo, but possibly available elsewhere.
