Do you pay for a copy of the directory?

Frouby · 16/12/2016 14:23

I never pay for a directory and have had slots the last few times!

Am not sure when they are given out though, anytime now I think for the boxing day sale.

Yes I pay for the directory and order a lot through next as I like the way you can try before you pay . I always pay it off every month but they probably don't want me to do that ! Hmm

I only want it for the label stuff and trainers etc.. I don't get on with next clothes and the kids stuff is always gone sooo quickly . The things I want now are sold out too so I doubt there will be anything I want really ..

We use to receive VIP sale invites at every sale up until a couple of years ago, then they stopped. As the account in OH's name I got him to ring & ask why etc etc & basically they went on to say the sale invites are sent out by computer, randomly. It as we didn't receive subsequent sale invites, I got him to ring again & eventually they admitted it was because although we ordered a fair amount of things from time to time from them, we actually returned more, up to 25% of our overall orders. And that's why our invites had stopped. I doubt very much we'll be getting an invite for this sale either!

I do buy a lot and I do return a lot but overall I do spend a fair amount . I did wonder if it's my return rate that moved me to the bottom of the list .

Hmmmmm......I may not get an invite this year then if % of returns is a factor because I've found the quality and sizing of some stuff to be pretty crap so quite a bit has been returned. Oh well. Their loss, as I'm sure asos and zalando will be happy to receive my custom.

I asked the question and got this response this morning:

Thank you for e-mailing us.

I'm sorry you've had to contact us about the VIP Sale and also for the late reply.

We've not confirmed our Sale date yet. Once we have, we'll advertise it online at www.next.co.uk and in the National Press.

I've had a look through your account and can see that you're not subscribed to receive e-mail offers/news and sale information.

But if you would like to subscribe, please visit our website at www.next.co.uk and log onto your account, select Contact Details from the menu on the left hand side, then tick the contact by e-mail box at the Contact Preferences Section. And this will allow you to receive e-mail updates.

Once you have subscribed, to be considered for a VIP sale invitation your account must meet all of the criteria listed below:

· You must have a Next flexible credit account with at least £250 credit available.

· You must have placed and kept an order within the last year.

· You must have an up to date e-mail address registered to the account and have previously agreed to receive sale and promotional e-mail literature.

· You must have returned less than two thirds of the items you've ordered.

Although we have the above criteria in place, an invitation to participate cannot be guaranteed.

I hope this information is useful to you and that you'll continue to shop with us in the future.

That unfair ..I buy a lot but also return a lot because the sizes are all over the place !!! I've looked through and I think it may even out because we spent a lot of xmas outfits and presents . We will see.

It does seems unfair, it would appear that if you hardly ever shop with them, you are more likely to get a sale invite, my sister admitted she'd probably ordered one or two things over several months or so & received invites.

profit margins are tight in the clothing industry. Next do well and make about 20% margins. A £30 dress therefore makes them £6 profit. If they have to ship out and pay for return postage on unsold goods, that eats into the margin. People who spend less and return less may be more profitable than high spenders with lots of returns.

Well yeah I know that but if they sorted out their sizing then I would keep more!

Next do very well for themselves, both my neice & nephew use to work for them, a couple of years ago, on Boxing Day alone, at one store, (South Yorkshire) they took over £100,000k. I just want an invite this time cos I'm desperate for some bloody towels!! 😬
