Grin

Finally.

I always thought I 'ought' to like their stuff.
I ventured in to one of their shops for the first time yesterday.
And yes, I do like their stuff Grin

Bought a top and would've bought a dress had it been available in my size.
Now tempted to get it online and have signed up to their newsletter, hoping for 10% or summat off as a welcome pressie, but sadly no

So now I am sitting on my hands and am furiously looking at eBay offerings

Just had to share.

Well, the Cos website is crap, isn't it?
The clothes all look stoopid.
And the models vaguely embarrassed to be wearing them Grin

This top in green - nice with skinnies.

This dress - it's lovely on. IMO Grin

I love the dress. The good thing about the website is that you can be confident that you will look better in the clothes than the model.

I always try and imagine what the photographer instructions to the model are on a Cos photo shoot. I have never come up with a plausible idea.

I reckon there will be 30% off lots of stuff fairly soon - they are due a mid season sale.

In the meantime they have 20% off knitwear this weekend - I bought this jumper in dark brown earlier this week - very happy with it.

PacificDogwod · 19/11/2016 21:14

Oh, thanks, I might hold off for the mid-season sale then!

I tried to reason with them that my top was 'knitwear' as the jersey material it is made from is technically knitted, but they were not buying it... HmmGrin

Thanks for the code. I had been holding out till Black Friday but now I've just ordered this in dark green.

Report
Floisme · 20/11/2016 17:10

Actually it wasn't a code, just a general 20% knitwear offer on their website. Sorry if that was unclear!

Is that mid season sale likely to be before Christmas do you think? A store has just opened near me and I want to buy everything.

Luckystar1 · 20/11/2016 18:39

Jesus wept the clothes look shocking on the models!!

I really like that jumper floisme.

They usually do have reductions on some stock well before Christmas.

I love that grey top, but £6 postage?!

I bought this the other day. It's utterly lovely and, if this is relevant to anyone, very handy for breastfeeding! www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Leisurewear/Knitwear/Circle-hem_jumper/43642020-53057212.1#c-24479

And on Cos threads I always feel duty bound to let everyone know how fabulous these trousers are:

www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Trousers/Slim-fit_trousers/46887-39033175.1#c-85348

They seem to be permanent stock as I've been buying them for years. They often do a range of colours. They are my perfect smart-or-casual trousers. Nicely thick, the right amount of stretch, a good cut and an excellent length. The ankles have quite wide hems so are perfect if you want to turn/fold them into cuffs to flash your ankles too.

I can just see the model brief now...

'No, just don't wash your hair for a month... yes nice and greasy, we like that. Can you slump a little more? Yes just kind of exhale and look like you're about to collapse. More vacant please... slightly slacker jaw.. perfect! Bring on the sacks!'

Everyone raves about cos but I only have website access and the clothes look awful on the models.

I agree, the postage is shocking.

And the models/general styling of the website is enough to put anybody off IMO. I really fail to see how this is actually attracting more customers.
But - the stuff in the shops is lovely.
V much benefits from wearing by a Real Person and looks better with movement IMO, rather than a static photograph.

The stuff seems to be quite oversized atm, because no way on this earth am an S or even XS Grin

takes a mental note of those trousers - thanks!

I quite like the bored, miserable can't be arsed look of the models on the website because it reflects my personality It's the diametric opposite of the Boden jolly middle class look that puts me right off thier clothes, which I'm sure are alright but the styling is irritating.

I've looked at that drapey top too Pacific What's the sizing like? It looks quite long whereas I'm quite short so I've held off.

On the last Cos thread I was on I got really cross about how they've got loads of stores in London but hardly any others. Maybe they were listening as there's now a Leeds branch which is a bit more accessible.

Love their clothes. I'm average height, rather rotound (18-20) and don't resemble the models in any way! But I have three great dresses which fit me and suit me. Their shift type dresses with pockets are cut well and are fab for work. Wearing one today

Bristol is now open! Hoping to pop by soon.

I tried the circle hem jumper a few weeks ago, and was tempted. Love those skinny trousers too, might have to try those.

I got this one a few weeks ago, and love it, wear it loads: www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Tops/Oversized_roll-neck_top/46885-3301796.1#c-85348

I really love their stuff and am constantly surprised by how much stuff there is that really interests me. I think the absolute key, however, is not to wear too much Cos in one go - you need to space it out, unless you are really striving for the full-on Scandi neo-brutalist vibe (personally, I just like a faint undercurrent of interesting menace).

Yes, it comes up very large. Everything I have from there is S or XS (in real life ... not so much so!)

I went to their Glasgow store - so they have ventured north of Hadrian's Wall Grin

Flo, I got that top in S and it is generous. I.m 5'6''' and it hits at my hip
I have tits and a backside so fully expected their stuff to not suit me, but it does!

Tawny, it is a rare day that I'm not kitted out head to toe in cos... today I'm wearing the slim fit trousers mentioned above, this sweater www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Knitwear/Roll-neck_merino_jumper/46889-44104810.1#c-22755
With this top underneath www.cosstores.com/gb/Women/Tops/Slim-fit_top_with_thumbhole/46885-41236010.1#c-85346
Not at all very neo-brutalist! Tho I do go for that look on occasion 😬
When you add in my cos coat, oversized scarf, bag and shoes, I'm pretty much cos all over.

I sneered at their clothes as shapeless but then bought a lovely top and skirt in there recently, and I like the look of the top and dress in Pacific's second post. Must have a rummage this weekend. The styling on the website is ridiculous - those models are probably an XS but look like they're wearing Ls. Also, why are trousers so short these days? I like those skinnies but my ankles would freeze!
