Cool make up brands for teens?

MissMillament · 18/11/2016 10:29

My 14 year old DD is very into make up and I would like to get her some slightly more expensive stuff for Christmas than she can normally afford. I have ordered her an eyeshadow palette and brush set from morphe brushes and I wondered if anyone could point me in the direction of other similar brands that a teenager might covet? Thanks in advance.

They all like MAC don't they? Seems to be what my 16 year old niece loves and the girls at school.

Posted too soon. The lipsticks are really good I think and the eye shadows seem to stay on well. My niece always looks good I have to say.

Smashbox or Benefit, both do gift sets.

Of course! Thanks! Any thoughts about what products I should look for - I am fairly clueless about make up - she is 14 and has lovely skin so I don't feel she needs heavy foundation and stuff? She does like to watch Youtube and copy the looks though.

Urban Decay, the Vice Lipstick Palette (not sure if it's out yet) will make for a very nice present.

Too Faced, Anastasia Beverly Hills, and a lot of the other American brands they all covet from Youtube also worth looking at, easiest to find on Beauty Bay.

x-posted Fruity! I will have a look. Also at Smashbox and Benefit, thanks VWK.

According to my teenage niece I shouldn't wear Urban Decay make-up because it is for teens and twenties and people who are not 'ancient' if that's any help Grin

Rosie Grin sounds perfect for DD then!

To faced chocolate bar eye pallet it's amazing

I'd second the tip for the Too Faced chocolate pallet - my 14yo loves that.

Also one of the Urban Decay Naked pallets - there are 3 to choose from.

Anything from Sephora, which is something of a cult brand. Don't know if there are shops in the UK - we found one in Barcelona!

A set from Benefit like Do the Hoola.

The one MAC thing DD is dreaming of getting for Christmas is an iridescent highlighter in a shade called Lightscapade I might feel the need to borrow that one.

At the risk of confusing the issue by offering another suggestion, the Kat von D makeup is very popular on the YouTubes - you can currently only get it at in the UK at a couple of Debenhams stores, but it's all on the website.

Thanks everyone - I have lots to choose from now! I had no idea all these brands existed - the Clinique counter in Boots is as exotic as I get! Maybe I should update my own make up while I'm at it.

Mac do a makeover for £30 then that £30 can be put towards products, a good idea if you don't know what products to buy

My 15 year old gets excited about Nyx.

Urban Decay, MAC, Benefit. Urban Decay Naked palettes (eyeshadows) would be a good choice depending on budget. There are several of them.

Definitely one of the mini Urban Decay palettes, maybe a Beauty Blender and a Benefit gift kit. Check Boots for offers leading up to Christmas.

There aren't currently any Sephora shops in the UK but you can order online from the US Sephora.

Oh yes NYX the Matt lipsticks in a gloss style wand. They do look amazing. Very Kylie Jenner lipsticky.

Going by what's on dds (13 and 15) lists we have two faced, Mac, urban decay, Jeffrey star, anastasia Beverley hills, Kylie lip kits and morphe. I've been doing a lot of googling!

My 14yo niece nearly passed out with excitement with her Kylie whatsit lip thingy (not minogue!). Couldn't tell you what it was though.

I got a friend's daughter one of the Urban Decay Nudes eye palettes for her 18th birthday recently and she seemed quite unreasonably delighted.

£39 for an eye-shadow palette Shock.

I was thinking maybe £15-20 on something nice for a stocking present.

£39!!!

Monty when it comes to make up there is no such thing as unreasonably delighted! My mum got me a Smashbox make up set. I could've died and gone to heaven!

Thank you ladies. Beautybay came up trumps and DD now has some very covetable make up coming her way!
Now, I just need to sort myself out...
