Any recommendations? Ideally mid-price.

After trying hundreds and a trip abroad so fortunately duty free I've just bought three new ones:
Black Opium for evenings
Michael Kors Wanderlust ( smells similar to Coco Madamemoiselle )
Givenchy Dahlia Divin ( previously had Dahlia Noir)
All Eau du Parfume.

Depends obviously on what you would normally wear, I like something a bit heavier for the winter. Through the summer I've worn Dahlia Noir, Daisy ( the original one) and Jo Malone Dark Amber and Gingerlily in the evenings.

Others I like are:
Opium ( the original)
Chanel Coco Madamemoiselle
Givenchy Organza
Jo Malone Pomegranate Noir ( all Eau du Parfume, rarely buy EdT).

What perfumes have you/ do you like?

I'm going to dig out my bottle of Liz Earle No15.
Spicey, soft, very A/W.

Valentino Valentina Assoluto. Smells like a velvet hug.

I always treat myself to Jo Malone Nutmeg and Ginger at Christmas. Can't stop sniffing my wrists when I'm wearing it

Tom Ford Noir pour Femme is a comforting, warm, milky vanillic amber.

Serge Lutens Fille en Aiguilles, fruits spice with a bit of pine - very Christmassy.

Shazam! 4160 Tuesdays, spicy spice very warming.

If you want to spend a bit more, Coromandel is possibly the greatest cold weather scent in the world, ever!

Thanks all. I'm going to take myself off to the nearest department store and get sniffing!!

I normally go for florals, like Ralph Lauren Romance (retro I know) and recently DKNY Be Delicious Fresh Blossom, but as PP said fancy something warmer/heavier for winter.

Keep the suggestions coming! Grin

Coromandel, or any oriental/woody/spicy/leathery really.

Off the top of my head: Shalimar, Samsara, Coromandel, Wrappings, Cuir Cordoba, Vol de Nuit, L'Heure Bleue, Mitsouko, Black Orchid, Paloma Picasso, Miss Dior Originale, Jicky, Cinnabar (similar to Opium) etc etc.

You could try the lists on Now Smell This blog, or The Scented Hound, or Boid de Jasmine. Though they all seem to list by year, so new releases, which, as you might tell by my user name, aren't something I'm terribly familiar with!

Thanks Vintage - I'm guessing you know what you're talking about Grin

I've been a bit reckless and ordered a handbag size of Shazam! To try - hopefully will like, xx.

My winter scent is Narciso 'Narciso Eau de Parfum - the one in the square creamy-coloured bottle. It is quite girly - smells like expensive, powdery flowers.

You could order dupes of loads from Perfume Parlour and then see which you like best and splash out! I have just taken possession of about another 15 3ml bottles!

I just bought a part used bottle of La Vie est Belle on eBay - it's really nice.

I found one of those sample tubes at the bottom of a handbag the other day which presumably i'd picked up somewhere but not tried...until then. Can't stop smelling it now.

I'd previously seen the TV advert with Julia Roberts and normally I hate advertising/ sleb type endorsements etc ... and never buy 'from' an advert, as that kind of thing has the opposite effect & really puts me off trying a scent...... but in this case it's lovely and I'd totally misjudged. Total bargain on eBay too.

Also, I tried some Laura Mercier Ambre Vanille in a dept store the other day, that was lovely too. I might put that on my Christmas list/ treat myself to a gift set if it gets reduced in the NY.

In winter I like Miller Harris, L'Air de Rien, Liz Earle No 15, and am currently very much enjoying Heeley Cardinal. (I wear Chanel 19 all year round and think it works just as well in autumn/winter as in spring/summer.)

I love Marc Jacobs Decadence. Not everyone's cup of tea but I love a heavy perfume.

youmight laugh at this but either of the madonna perfumes, Truth or Dare (original) or Truth or Dare Naked. the original is big white flowers and vanilla, really thick and rich and the naked is boozy vanilla with a hint of spice and oddly some people pick out mint, i dont but i am assured it's there. both can be found cheap as chips on ebay

Ginger, Coromandel is bought directly from Chanel Boutiques, Selfridges and Harrods, although you can't order online you can ring up and order over the phone.

Samples are found on eBay or this site is very reliable, lots of good stuff: www.fragrancesamplesuk.com/collections/chanel-les-exclusifs-fragrance-samples
