Velvet?

Anyone embracing the velvet trend at the moment?

I love the feel and look of velvet (know that it's vile to some people)

Think I want a pair of velvet cropped trews but they're just making me think of a costume I wore for a school play c. 1989.

Used to wear velvet granny jackets from charity shops in the 90s so not sure will be returning to that look this time around.

Wore a velvet black skinny top form Urban Outfitters last night. So, yes!

Quite a few years back I saw a lovely dress made of dark purple velvet with silver sparkles on, sounds gross but it wasn't! I've always regretted not buying it and every year when the party dresses come out I always look for something similar so I say velvet is a YES

I bought a fig coloured velvet dress from Dorothy Perkins last weekend, wore it this week and loved it. Their velvet loafers are cute, too, in burgundy and black. I love velvet, have been eyeing up a velvet cami from River Island this week too.

I like the idea of it but haven't seen anything I like yet.

I love velvet. I wore my blue velvet leggings yesterday and red velvet skirt this week. I have several velvet dresses and jackets, love it all. I haven't seen anything for this year yet. X

Ooh a velvet cami sounds lovely.

I like the velvet t-shirts that are about too - Toast has some which are ££ but beautiful colours

Yes, I'm very tempted by the Toast skirts, but as you say £££.
Still they look very lovely and so so the shift dresses.

Tempted on a Sunday morning.....will I survive?

Another velvet fan here - bought some black velvet Joni jeans from Topshop last weekend. They're lovely!

My navy velvet jacket from Boden arrived yesterday.

It's lovely, but I'm yet to decide what it will look best with.

Can you wear velvet if you are...on the fat and dumpy side? Or does it have the same effect at shiny material that makes all the lumps look worse?

I'm currently considering splashing some birthday money on this:

Love that Reiss top. The UO culottes would look terrible on me, what with the drawstring waist.

These awe type velvet cropped trews I think I like, but haven't tried them in RL. From Marks

Twenty plus years ago, I bought a £££ velvet scarf and justified it on the logic that I would never be too old or too fat for it. And now I am a senior citizen, it's still sumptuous.

AllPizzas The sizing is pretty generous; I bought a 14 because I've got broad hips and shoulders (usually a 12) but could easily have gotten away with a 12. Really comfortable to wear, too, and the fabric isn't too thick and stiff.

I've got a midnight blue velvet dress from Ghost. I bought it 20 years ago and have got it out for a posh do this week! Very pleased it'll do. Looks lovely Smile
