Got black tie evening event at posh London hotel for work this Christmas and also found out got another event (not work) at Christmas. Which of these dresses if any would suit. Size 12ish, 11 stone, 5ft 5, 30G bust, slim waist, long legs but hate thighs (chunky?) trying to lose weight. Dark blonde. Thanks! PS the first dress looks much better on if you're a member of Mrs gloss you'll know what I mean!

Im not convinced that two is black tie. One is definately not in my opinion black tie material. Like three though.

If it wasnt black tie, i would choose one, but as per dress code three.

I really like those! Interesting choices.

I think 2 is my favourite, then 3 then 2.

Im a Mrs Glosser but im not sure what you mean! I might be being thick.

3 is gorgeous. Have you tried them on?

I meant 2 then 3 then 1

But agree with comments that 3 is probs better for black tie

3 is both my favourite and fits dress code best

All lovely, but I'd say 3 for a black tie event.

[glosser here too]

Personally I think that 3 is the only one suitable for a black tie event and I'm not particularly keen on it. I think with your figure you could go for something much much flattering maybe a it more figure hugging at the waist.

Rhuhbarb or anyone else, any ideas on black tie stuff? The last long evening dress I wore twice and it's now been charity shopped.

They scare me due to the length evening dresses!

The glossers here, well a fellow glosser tried on number one dress and it looked amazing on her much better than in the model!

1 and 2 are not "black tie" dresses.

3 is more like it. Bit dull though.

How about something like this? www.johnlewis.com/coast-exeter-burnout-dress-multi/p3049288

I prefer two, but also think three is more black tie.

I think I may try to try them in anyway not just for this black tie as I need something decent for a 40th birthday party evening meal do in December too.

sidge that dress is lovely but could I wear it again? I baulk at spending that much on something I'll only wear twice so would prefer to wear again if poss.

Have you thought about something like this? I was at a black tie event last weekend and wore something similar - more contemporary than the traditional long evening dress and something I'd wear again. Quite a few people were in different variations of it. jumpsuit

Wow OP, they are all stunning dresses. I like them in the order you've posted them in. They are all fabulous though!

I would pick three, although I think the first is nice too. Not sure the first two are the easiest to pull off though.
