Continuing from the previous thread. It's always so lovely to see new posters come and talk perfume. Everyone is welcome. Come and tell us your SOTD ( scent of the day) or ask us anything perfumey. Someone will know the answer! Get stuck in and get sniffing. You'll find no snobbery here!

Currently wearing Elizabeth Arden Green Tea. I saw a huge bottle for a tenner a few months ago and I remembered my Mum used to wear it, so I bought it. It's lovely and fresh! I'm usually to be found in Flowerbomb or La Vie est Belle, but it makes a nice change to wear something so different Smile

What's on everyone's Christmas list this year? I usually find it so hard to choose one good FB. Last year I asked for First by Van Cleef and Arpels and I really love it, but want something else this year.

I am wondering if any of you perfumistas know of something affordable and similar (wouldn't expect a dupe) to Frederic Malle's Portrait of a Lady. It's one of my favourite scents but I just can't afford it at the moment.

Do people have any thoughts on Chanel No5 L'Eau, too? Got a sample recently and actually loved it. Was pleasantly surprised by the longevity.

Hello scented folk! Glad we have a new home.

I traded nearly full bottles of vintage Dune and Encre Noire pour Elle with Scent Samples in Tintagel after buying decants of some other things from them. It's local for me, so preferable to buying from the US or Germany. The selection is great on some ranges (Tom Ford, Dior including many of their exclusifs, Amouage and lots of others) and misses lots of brands out altogether, so no Heeley, Parfumerie General and too many others to list. I don't think it has been going all that long which may explain. Seem okay so far, happy to link.

Ooh for Xmas I would love a big bottle of NR for her EDT - running dangerously low.
Today have been perfume counter hopping so am smelling like a perfume whore!
Tried MK Wanderlust as marketing campaign huge for it - why they didn't release it in spring summer is mind boggling - but it smells sooo like Allure it's ridiculous.

Speaking of perfumes, as you all are, is there one with the scent of Violets? Specifically Parma Violet sweets?

Ive been using a deodorant spray that's lightly violet smelling atm so think its my favourite smell in the world. A perfume would be ideal.
Many thanks.

Whenever someone asks for a perfume that smells like Parma Violets I always think of Insolence by Guerlain. Excellent staying power too!

Oh, Laura merciers ambre vanilla body creek soufflé is on my Xmas list ( don't like the perfume but the body lotion is delicious and heavily scented) I wear it with a light spritz of Burberry body perfume on pulse points.

Love the smell, lasts all day and never had so many compliments. Kinda clean and soft.

Apres L'Ondee reminds me of parma violets in a soft understated way.

My SOTD was Shiseido Feminite du Bois which is a firm favourite and perfect for Autumn.

Almost missed the new thread - great see you all here!

Wrap have you looked for decants on Crystal Flacon and eBay? POTL is potent stuff, I bought a mini some years ago and it will keep me happy for a long time.

Penhaligons Violetta has been sadly discontinued .Its one of my favourite perfumes and I bought a back up bottle at the time from Tk's last year , or maybe the year before.I don't get on with Insolence for some reason ,its too artificial smelling to me.I'm sure you can still buy Violetta on eBay though.Tk Maxx have some lovely Violet liquid soap in some stores if you can find it - Flores Do Campo Violetta.Tocca do a Violet perfume as do Annick Goutal if you're looking for alternatives.
OCSock thank you!

This is a dangerous thread for me. I can see myself starting to buy new perfumes soon...

I am on a Penhaligon's kick at the moment. Quercus. I have been layering the body lotion and perfume. Though I think I prefer Malabar now. Quercus doesn't stay like it used to.

Parfum de Therese, from Frederic Malle (I think) is all Parma violets, and very perfumista juice; you may not thank me for mentioning it when it spoils you for less sophisticated iterations of violets (costs £££) but worth sampling if you have an opportunity.

Second SoTD was Jicky, plus a waft of cetalox. And it is good because it fixes it in my nose, not yours. It adds a waft of woodiness that I like a lot.

Can I just nip in to say that I do like reading this thread. Partly as it gives me inspiration about what to buy when I eventually have some money, and partly as nearly all my favourite perfumes (from now and from days of yore) seem to be classed as 'classics', which makes me feel like I must be terribly tasteful. i.e. Je Reviens, Dune, Aromatics Elixir, Obsession, Prada Iris one, and Molecule One. I also like a bit of Sisley, Cabochard, and that green one Prescriptives used to do. Calyx. And the Hermes one in the orange box. And SJP's Lovely.

As you were...
