Rain hat

Umbrellas in the city just don't work for me. Nor do they work when pushing a buggy. They bump into people and when indoors, they drip.

A lady walked past me on Saturday when I was in the city. While I looked drowned and flustered, she looked calm and stylish. Why? Because she was wearing a lovely green (maybe wax) style rain hat.

I checked eBay but couldn't find it. Today I dutifully searched M&S but could only find wide wool hats or little old lady fishing style hats.

Does anyone know where I might find one?

You need to go to a county show of some sort, you'll find loads of them!

*sorry phone posted too soon.

I should add the girl I saw was in her mid thirties. The hat was functional but also very stylish.

was it a bushman type hat?

I'd recommend Barbour for all your waxy needs.

It was wide rather than fisherman style but not floppy.

I have a little old lady fisherman hat and carry it 24/7 - I love it. It's black and shiny, and tucks down really small in my bag. (It kind of suits my style, and I've actually had random people compliment me on it.)

It was a cross between the Barbour all weather hat and the fedora. The M&S one is smaller than the one I saw.

She just looked 'together' wearing it. I even looked back at her after she had walked past me. The hat wasn't anything extravagant, but it was stylish as well as functional.

The Aussie style hat is kind of like it but I'm not sure I'd look back at someone wearing the Aussie hat tbh. It was definitely featherless too.

There is a German brand - wool with a thin leather strip. Waterproof. Expensive, fedora style.
I will check it out. Dsis has one.

It had a strip. I'm pretty sure of that.

Kate Middleton has worn one as has Michael O' Leary's wife ( Ryanair) at the races. Stylish, waterproof hat.
No feather Smile

Ah here if KM has worn it, it is outside my budget credit card limit. And I don't want to 'take care' if it, I want it to be functional and everyday rainy day wear.

I just looked st images of KM and it did look like one in a photo of KM walking her dog but.......maybe not as I thought the lady in the street was wearing a wax one. In hindsight, perhaps I thought it was wax because it was wet from the downpour we were having?

Have a couple of these, from M&S a few years back, easy to fold and stuff in bag etc. Maybe look at men's ranges too?

No label on dsis hat but I pass the shop she got it in from time to time and will check brand name for you.
It is crushable, waterproof and 100% wool. A German made hat.
Stylish in the rain doesn't come cheap!!! Smile

It's very like the one Kate Middleton wore on the Vogue cover she did.

I've got a dark green one a bit like the Barbour one but with an upturned brim - it came from a random country clothes shop at a big garden centre near Oxford. It is waxed and also lined so keeps your head warm in the winter.

Was it a Tilley hat maybe? I like this one but they have many styles: www.tilley.com/uk_en/women/hats/cool-weather/tw2-classic-winter.html
