Charlotte Tillbury or Illmasqua foundation?

I'm looking for a new foundation and wondered if anyone had tried any from either of these? I'm looking for one by a brand that doesn't test on animals so that limits my choices somewhat, but if anyone does know of anymore I'd love other suggestions.
I've got quite dry, pale skin with lots of red marks left from acne so need something with a decent amount of coverage but don't like anything too matte or heavy. I use Gosh BB cream in the day but would like a little more coverage for special occasions. Any ideas?

No experience with either but have a look at crueltyfreekitty, they do very thorough research wrt what brands are truly cruelty free so should give you more options.

Ellis Faas is also cruelty free and do a beautiful foundation, unfortunately it's quite pricey and shades are limited but it's gorgeous on the skin.

I only use cruelty free products. I wasn't keen on charlotte tilbury but have yet to try illamasqua as I'd need to travel miles to find a counter.

I'm currently using pixi h20 tint and I love it but I don't really have any skin problems (apart from signs of aging). A light moisturiser and a blob of pixi and I'm good to go. For more coverage, I do like superdrug's own 'B' range which is also BUAV approved.

Illamasqua Skin Base is a medium to full coverage and isn't very pliable because it is chock full of pigment. It needs a good moisturiser and primer underneath and is best applied with a Real Techniques buffing brush or stippling brush or Beauty Blender type sponge. Once you get the hang of it, it is a very beautiful foundation that looks like skin and you only need to use a very small amount so the bottle will last for ages. And you can go over bits that need more coverage with it without looking cakey.

The Rich Liquid Foundation is maximum coverage and is water resistant. It is very thick and the bare minimum is needed. It can look a bit cakey if too much is applied. I think this one might not be good as it is very drying because of the water resistant formula.

The Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder is a medium very dewy finish that has a good glow. It is very emollient. It gives good coverage and needs a separate concealer. The Magic Foundation is full coverage similar to Double Wear and is slightly more malleable than Skin Base. It is best applied with a buffing brush or sponge and you only need a tiny bit. Again, you can go over bits that need more coverage without looking cakey.

All the foundations can be sheered out with moisturiser so you aren't stuck with a full coverage base every day when for instance on Sundays you might want a tinted moisturiser instead of a full made up face.

Please do try them at the counters before buying. I know that both brands will be more than happy to apply it and give a sample before buying (take your own mini pot in case there aren't any ready made samples though).

Charlotte Tilbury magic foundation is fantastic! Really good coverage but not heavy or cakey/mask like! I bought mine in February, west it every day and still loads left! Really recommend!

Agree that CT magic is, well, magic.

another CT fan here. def get a short stubby brush to apply it mine is a bobby brown one here

i think the brush makes a big difference in the amount you use and the light but complete coverage

I hated the CT Magic Foundation. Good colour match but everything else about it was crap.

Argh see this is the problem, reveiws are so mixed for them all. I think it'll be a case of going to the counter and testing each one out. Thanks everyone!
