Inbetween jacket

Can anyone help me with some suggestions please.

I am looking for a nice jacket to wear in this in-between weather. Not biker style, I already have a brown leather biker that's quite old, I do still wear it but want something new.

I've tried all my usual places - Boden, Mint Velvet, White Company, M&S....nothing fits the bill. I tried a coatigan from Boden - went straight back - VERY frumpy!

I am 44, 5'3", size 12 with boobs and inverted triangle shape.

I think I'd like wool and it should have a bit of warmth but not as warm as a winter coat.

Help!

Budget? Casual or smart or for both? What's your personal definition of nice ;)

I'm the same age but a different shape. My Autumn jacket options, apart from my leather jackets, are a knitted jersey blazer, collarless (Chanel style-y) boxy jackets in either a quilted fabric, or boucle type knitted fabrics, khaki green army style, I have a shorter straight on and one with a drawstring waist. Mine are from places like Whistles, J Crew, All Saints, so maybe not your usual brands, but worth a look if your current shops don't ave anything?

Or you could look at pea coats or military style wool jackets?

I'd try Zara, Whistles and Jigsaw on the high st, and Jaegar outlet online.

Thanks, I have bought in Whistles before, they might have something.

Budget - not sure but fairly flexible as long as not too outrageous!

I like to look put-together so I don't want it too casual looking, so not a parka for example.

I'm not keen on Zara, the quality isn't great.

Like the idea of military style, where would I look for something like that?

I'm looking for exactly the same thing - strange it's so hard this year!

I think this is the most difficult jacket to find. Military style seem ubiquitous at the moment. I quite like them but can't get too excited by them.

I personally would like something brown maybe green like a blazer but perhaps in denim. Saw a denim blazer that was great but blue is so difficult to match in a jacket

I've just started a similar thread Blush lots of ideas here, il get looking!

I really like that Boden jacket, Dancergirl! But £149 is out of my budget, I was hoping to get something for under £70 really.

I love military style, though rather overdosed on it last time it was in fashion around 2005.

I bought this. Ignore the terribly odd styling. More than a cardi but less than a coat. Nice sharp lines at the front so not veering into frump territory. I'm loving it

I'm 44 and I'm loving my topshop camouflage jacket with sequins for during the day.

That's nice gilly but not really what I'm looking for. I definitely want a jacket not a coat.

I don't really want sequins either!

Arrgghh - am I searching for the impossible??

Sleeveless? TKMaxx had a charcoal grey knee length knit which goes well over a thin Tshirt and jumper combination for me, if the colour is good for you. £35, so not dear, and so far very useful. Performing well over exercise kit in lieu of a sweatshirt too.

No definitely not sleeveless. I've never understood that, I would get cold arms! Sorry to be awkward.

The Boden jacket is nice - I've been wondering about it for a while. I have a J Crew navy pea coat which I got last year and works well as a transitional piece, as they say.
Have you looked at Jigsaw? There is this tweed jacket or this softer one, which you might like?

I ordered the Boden blazer in 2 colours in my usual size 12 and it's too tight Sad Have re-ordered in a 14 to see.

brilliana for some reason I am having problems accessing Jigsaw's website from my desktop computer, works ok on my iPad though.

It is £££ but I did notice that Jigsaw do a lovely navy blue sheepskin jacket. Wonder if they will put it in the sale....

Too tight on the bust or the arms? I'd probably need a 14 too, though less bothered if it's the former as I never do jackets up. But for reasons of pure vanity I can never bring myself to buy a 14.

It's autumn, a nice bit of tweed is called for. Budget conscious or flash
Although I seem to be wearing my leather jacket a lot at the moment.

Too tight on bust and across shoulders. I also hate buying a 14 but am curious what the fit is like.

There is also this jacket from Pepperberry:

I have boycotted Bravissimo religiously since an assistant humiliated me when I was trying to buy a maternity bra.
I have narrow shoulders so the Boden 12 might be ok. I do however like the look of the tweed Uniqlo blazer from Pestilence!

Well my son is 8 now so it was a while ago. But I left the shop almost in tears which is beyond inexcusable for any business, let alone one which sets out to welcome the large of nork.

That's terrrible, did you complain afterwards?

If you've got narrow shoulders a 12 should be ok. I hate my shoulders!

On a cheerier note: which colour of the Boden jacket did you go for?
