Talk me through all saints leather jackets

I've wanted to treat myself to a leather jacket from all saints. Now I see they have 20% off and don't know which to pick.

I was thinking cargo but now I don't know. If you have one which one and how do you wear it/what with?

I'm 40 slim 8/10 tall. I generally wear jeans converse t-shirts (mum uniform).

I've got 2 - one is the Bales which is my favourite wardrobe item:

www.allsaints.com/women/leather/allsaints-bales-biker/

It's not exactly a biker as the hardware is minimal and the leather is beautiful. I wear it with skinny jeans and trainers a lot, with a breton or plain long sleeved top. I'm a 12-14 and I got a 14 for boob space!

I've also got an Obika which I got in March in the sales - it's khaiki and definitely bikery with the detail and padding. It's not as easy to wear as the other one as there's a bit more going on/flappy leather at the front.

I'd love another but bought both this year at a total of £550 so can't possibly justify another!

Thanks. I hadn't even considered the style of the bales one. I guess I should probably try that to see how it looks. I had something along the lines of the cargo in mind but I'm not sure if that's fitted/neat enough but I like the grey/black colour.

I second the Bales, they do it every year and the leather this year is much better than previous versions, much thicker. (I know because I had one from a few years ago, lost weight so it looked too big, so sold it and re-bought!)

For the other more biker styles, you really need to try them on to notice the differences as a lot might look similar but aren't, or the one you think will suit you actually won't once worn. Some are boxy, some slim, some shorter and more cropped, and the placement of the hardware and pockets can really make a difference on your body. Also try different sizes. The sales assistants will try and get you to size down, which I did for the Bales, and I think generally good advice as you don't really zip a leather biker up. Plus they will stretch a little.

My current favourites are the Papin, which is quite cropped and has bracelet length sleeves, or the Cargo but I have three leathers now so can't justify more!

Let us know which one you go for!

Ooooh 20% off?? I've been eyeing up the Cargo! The Bales is lovely too. Which one is longer, can anyone tell me?

I have a cargo in black/grey and wear it constantly. It's two years old and looks even better than when I bought it.

Absolutely recommend it.

Ooh I've just ordered them both to try!

Catdog did you size up? Agh I've just read Curtis' advice to size down...I'm a 12-14 and I ordered 14s in both, but I do have quite big boobs. They'll come tomorrow so worst case, I could go online then and order the 12s if the 14s are too big - the promo ends tomorrow.

Catdogcat · 01/10/2016 16:47

I found it slightly bigger fitting, I'm usually a size 6-8 and I can wear the uk 4 comfortably with a jumper underneath.

I'd say maybe order the 12 as it's only 20% off until tomorrow and you don't want to miss out as it's a significant saving!

Catdog what do you tend to wear it with? How's the fit? It doesn't say it's slim fit but is it boxy?

I'm a 10 but from what you say I think I should try an 8 maybe?

Whete does it say it ends tomorrow please?

My email just says limited time and the other 20% promos were on for a week at least.

I wear it with everything! I tend to wear lots of plain dark colours though. Today I had it on with black skinny jeans, mustard tshirt and black vans, yesterday with a body con black polo neck dress and burgundy suede buckled ankle boots. I also wear it when I (rarely) get dressed up to go out.

I'd order both sizes if you can and return whichever you don't like, I prefer a fitted waist so it depends how you like the fit. But probably an 8 if you like fitted.

Laquila · 01/10/2016 19:43

Ahh my logic was that if I neede the 12, I could return the 14 and still benefit from the promo, as it'd be a straight exchange.

Enid I ordered from JL - I'm sure it said on their website that it ended on the 02.10.16.

Laquila Oh, thank you. Smile Glad I asked. I've spent way too much this month but 20% off is so tempting...

Deciding between Papin and Armstead and whether or not to size down.

Ooh I've ordered the cargo in a 10. If it's too big I'll take it in to swap for an 8... this is the plan.

I like the look of it done up (in pictures I've seen) but is that a no no??? Errr cat?

Enid they are both lovely. I do like the fitted look of the papin.

Zippy I'm swaying towards Papin. I like the length.

zippyswife · 01/10/2016 20:37

Yes Enid I like the length too. You're making me sway now too.... don't make me sway!!!!!!

Cat you sound like you have wonderful style going on there. That's the kind of style I'm aiming for I just don't always make it!!

Is the leather soft and supple?

Report
Catdogcat · 01/10/2016 20:47

Thanks zippy, I'm sort of thrown together at the moment with a tiny DD!

I wear it zipped to the Lapel IYSWIM, looks good I think and keeps tits warm from October wind

Thanks for the tips cat! You don't sound thrown together at all (😳 New style crush).

In no way could I have sized down on either of mine. The upper arms wouldn't have gone over any clothing, not even a t shirt and I wanted to be able to wear thin jumpers and long sleeves.

Report
EnidButton · 01/10/2016 22:18

I'm still hesitating.

If I get a 10 and decide to size down, can I exchange at the same price even if the promo has ended? My brain isn't working tonight.

zippyswife · 01/10/2016 22:43

Enid I would assume so. That's my plan.

Probably. No money changes hands for an exchange for another size so you'd only get charged if you changed style I think?

Ok. Papin is on the way! I went for my usual size 10 as it looks quite fitted and after your post PN. I have chicken leg arms. Grin

Well, I've received both Bales and Cargo in a 12 and 14. (My credit card was thrilled!!)

They're both lovely but I think I'm keeping the Cargo in a 12. The Bales is gorgeous but too similar to my current one, and I fancy a change. Also prefer the more muted hardware on the Cargo, the dark grey colour and the more distressed leather. The sleeves are also a bit more fitted than on the Bales, which somehow looks better.

I'd say they're both pretty true to size - Cargo seems like a slightly more fitted style (but to be honest, is a bit more cropped than I'd like). The 14 is slightly longer, and has more room for my boobs when done up, but feels a bit too blouson-y and 80s when undone. The 12 looks great undone so I guess I'll just have to wear it undone a lot!...
