NYDJ - anyone wearing these?

I'm not asking if they are a style hit or miss, I'm not a style icon, it's just I don't recall anyone mentioning them on here. I was just lying in bed unable to sleep and realised that when I did a big wardrobe clear out this year I held on to two pairs of jeans that I felt I should keep because they were only a year old, but I never wear them because they sag and pull down my thighs. I got up and chucked them into the charity bag and noticed that I kept two other pairs of jeans that are really comfortable and look fabulous, they're Not Your Daughter's Jeans. I bought them about 4 or 5 years ago when my weight shot up and my natural curves were emphasised at a size 14. I wondered whether there are ever any sales so I did a quick google and was surprised to see how pricey they are. Does anyone else wear them or know a place to get them more cheaply?

I'm a fan and only wear NYDJ. Strongly recommend them and find the price is worth it. There is a vast choice of styles on their website. I personally order from their EU website which is quite a bit cheaper than the UK one. There is also an outlet/sale section on the site.

I got some very cheaply in TK Maxx, although it was a few years ago.

Poly, I might save up for a new pair. I doubt know what makes them different from other jeans that have stretch but these manage to stay in place, they don't sag or change shape, my thighs don't pull them down. I can't believe I forgot about something so fan that I already own!

They currently have some NYDJ on //secretsales.com - down to around £60

Thanks whenIgrowup! I just had a look there and although it's tempting to buy some at those prices I didn't see any I wanted. I will keep them on my radar!

I wear them, though I am lucky that I travel to the USA for work so I buy them there. If you know anyone going to the USA, ask them to pick them up. I will also check out secret sales - great tip.

I love them. I am mum-shaped, not model-shaped & they are the best fit I have found

I got a pair off zalando. They are berry colour and straight leg so neither one thing nor another. I should have got a smaller size too.

Yes, yes I do wear them Grin - off to check the secret sales site!

They did nothing for me and made me look like a fat old woman. The elasticated webbing across the stomach just sort of sat there and didn't hold anything in at all. I find thicker fabric with less stretch more flattering.

I live in them, they are so comfy and all sorts of cuts and styles to suit your shape - from ultra slim, straight, bootcut to boyfriend, and various leg lengths so never needed to adjust anything. I'm surprised at the elasticated webbing comment as never seen that - mine are just fairly robust denim. Althoigh - I think they do summer trousers but never bought those.

Now I know what models work, I tend to buy new ones on eBay. But would even buy at John Lewis prices which tend to be £130ish

I too don't u derstand the elastic aged webbing comment. I have never seen any of their jeans with elasticised webbing of any kind. I wonder if Mrs sch... has them confused with some sort of maternity jeans?

The ones I tried on, in New York, and admittedly some years ago, had some kind of criss cross elastic thing to hold your gut in. It didn't work for me, but perhaps they have changed the design since then?

I wear them and have never come across the webbing mentioned.

Right, I will give them another go then! Am in New York next week, so will try a pair! I bought a pair of Jones New York secret slimmer jeans a couple of days ago in TJ Maxx and thought they were pretty good.

As said, am a big fan with quite a few pairs and also mystified by the elastic webbing comment.
Also you can get them in both lightweight and thicker (premium) denim as well as a vast array of styles. They do advise getting a size smaller than usual which I think is right.

So they are just like ordinary jeans? The elastic webbing ones seemed to cradle my gut and put it on display, rather than making any attempt to conceal it. Will definitely look in NYC then, particularly as Old Navy have discontinued my staple sweetheart jeans

I can also recommend Gloria Vandebuilt jeans, Amanda style if you are going to USA. They sell them in Sears.

I used to LOVE Gloria Vanderbilt jeans! Will look out for them.

No trace of elastic webbing on any of my NYDJs!

Had a fab pair until they went in the tumble drier and came out like a toddler's jeans.

Interested to read this as I've just ordered some dark brown NYDJ straight leg jeans from the EU website - good colour selection as brown is hard to find. Already have some indigo from 2 years ago which still look good and have been worth the spend.

OK, I am a convert. And picked up a pair in Macy's for $33. They had a load more on sale on Lord & Taylor for around $50 so may get another style as well.

Excellent. So much cheaper! Think I'll try and get my DS to pick me some up when he goes to NY soon. Which styles did you go for?

Report
MrsSchadenfreude · 08/10/2016 13:18

I got the bootleg ones, which I wouldn't normally choose, but they looked better on than the straight ones. And I thought I could always run them in, if I decided I wanted straight legs.

I found the sizing a bit hit and miss according to the styles. The 16 in the straight leg fitted fine, the 14 fitted (snugly!) In the boyfriend cut and the ones I bought were an 18, but the waist measured the same as the 16, but the legs and bum were more fitted. Confused
