Alternative to clinique 7 day scrub without microbeads

I have realised that clinique 7 day scrub contains microbeads. I have used this for years without realising but now I know, I need to find a good alternative. Even at nearly 50 my face gets quite spotty without a face scrub. Any recommendations please?

What's wrong with microbeads? I use indeed labs from boots - it's a bit like the dermalogica powder one, you add water to it. I love it, but I'm not sure whether it contains microbeads as I'm not quite sure what they are Blush It uses some kind of enzymes to exfoliate but does have a slightly rough texture (not as much as 7 day scrub though imo)

Microbeads are terrible for the environment. They're tiny pieces of plastic and fish ingest them.

OP, have you thought of using a Clarisonic (or a dupe like the one made by No 7)? You'll get an excellent exfoliation from it and can then pick your own cleansing gel or cream.

I was gutted when I found out too. Elemis do a Gentle Rose Exfoliator that works well for me, it's got jojoba esters suspended through instead of micro beads and has a similar feel.

Murad age reform exfoliating cleanser is another one that has jojoba instead, but I've not tried it.

Oh, and Lancôme Gel Eclat has that thick gummy feel and works well at the sink, but isn't good in the shower if your face is too wet.
I've also gone through three different cleansing brushes (boots, Clinique and Rio) and they all ended up breaking in some way. Should have just splashed out on a clarisonic so I'm waiting for an offer there!

I have acne and have been informed that microbeads are always too abrasive for my skin. Plus the environmental impact. I think chemical exfoliators are superior anyway, i have Clinique step 2 Clarifying lotion.

It's been known that microbeads are hugely problematic for the environment for years! How anyone could not know this I can't imagine.

Superdrug do a facial scrub without microbeads.

According to the Clinique consultant I spoke to last week, they are changing the formula so it will no longer have the microbeads in, not sure though when the new formula will be available.

Thanks Justgettingstarted, I've never heard of this before. I'll check the ingredients of what I'm using. Not sure there was a need to be quite so judge-y rivertam, I'm sure we could come up with something you don't know too if we put our minds to it Wink

Jelly There are no microbeads in the powder ones. They're are quite rare now and are in the process of being banned altogether Smile

Thank you everyone. I'd never heard of clarisonic but to be clear, had heard of microbeads but have only recently realised they are in the product I use. I had mistakenly thought it was only cheaper products that use them - maybe also mistakenly believing clinique to be expensive!

Clarisonic is well worth the money. I've had mine 5 years and I use it daily. It's been dropped several times & is still going strong.

Not very popular but I absolutely love the Forever Living scrub. Makes my skin glow and when I've not used it for a couple of days I can tell.

The Clinique lady said that they were replacing all the old formulas to new formulas without microbeads. So no need to panic you will still be able to buy 7 day scrub.

I use a bloody expensive kate Somerville scrub and was shocked to discover that too contains microbeads. I've switched to liquid exfoliant, pixi glow tonic and bravura calendula.
