Need a good winter coat

Probably daft to ask but since I've managed to buy only one coat in my whole adult life I'm a bit clueless as to quality etc.

I know what style I like, big hood and I mean big with removable optional fakey fur. And about/below bum length. Preferably black but I'm open to colours but not pink or white.

My main question is what brands are best for quality/syle I don't mind spending about £100 which probably isn't an awful lot but I know I can't get as good with £30.

My friend had a lovely fat face coat that I tried and it was lovely.
