Best ash home hair dye?

I'm currently light ish blonde and want to go a dark ash blonde. Does anyone have a home dye recommendation?

I did use a Nice 'n' Easy ash blonde dye about a month ago, but I think it was possibly light or medium blonde because although it was a lovely colour, it faded after one or two washes.

And is 'cool' hair dye basically the same as 'ash'?

Yes, cool is ash.
Have a look into majirel. It is much longer lasting. You can buy online. 7.1 would be a dark ash blonde. If that's too dark have a look at 8.1.

I'm a light ash blonde wanting to go just a bit darker, but the next shade down is a bit too dark. I mixed two shades together and that was a bit better. I'm wondering if some low lights might be the answer.

I like the L'Oreal Excellence ash blondes. The ash tones do tend to fade out first after a few washes. My tip would be to use a purple toning shampoo to neutralise any yellow tones. My favourite is Lee Stafford Bleach Blonde Shampoo (Boots).
Blondes are divided into warm, neutral or cool toned. So if you want an ash blonde look for 'cool', 'ash', or 'ice' blondes.
Avoid honey, warm, baby blondes.

If your hair is very light blonde, I would try a medium ash blonde first. Dark ash blonde is essentially a light mouse brown color and maybe too dark for you.

Dark ash blonde (very nearly light brown) is my natural colour ILost (in the winter anyway) which is why I'm after that one. I've got some Bleach London purple shampoo too, couldn't live without it! I'm glad I'm not the only one to find ash colours to wash out the quickest though.

Going to have a Google of Majirel and L'Oréal Excellence now.
