I'm 41. I started using Estée Lauder skincare and make up when i was in my early 20s and I've basically stayed loyal to them since. With a bit of benefit high beam, touche eclat foundation sometimes and bioderma micellar water thrown in.

I use micellar water to take off make up, then Estée all the way: tissue off cleanser, idealist and then day wear moisturiser in the day. I use advanced night repair and an Estée night cream at night, I think it is revitalising supreme or something like that. I use spf under my make up.

I think I need a refresh. I would also like to spend a bit less, as the Estée stuff all adds up. I have dry skin, pretty clear, but some oil on my nose and more recently a few spots between my eyebrows, of all places. I have some pigmentation around my eyes due to not high enough spf in past skiing holidays. My concerns are ageing more than anything else though.

All replies appreciated!

Hi Well
Have a look at SR skincare site (sorry can't link), they do a whole variety of different acid peels at different strengths depending on your skin type.
Start with the lowest concentration. The prices are excellent, about £8 for a peel and neutralising gel which used once a week will last ages. There is lots of advice and instructions on the site. You will see a difference in your skin.
Also if you have dry/dull skin try taking a high strength oil of evening primrose or starflower capsule every day(I rate Natures Best very highly). It can take a few months to really see an effect, but they really do smooth out the skin and improve the brightness.

Paula's Choice glycolic acid 5% or 8% in the morning, Le Roche Posay Redermic R at night, sunblock in the morning. Le Roche has a vitamin C too - Redermic C. Physiogel (or similar, like Le Roche, Avene, etc) moisturiser. I think that's all you need.

Thank you both very much. It would be amazing if I could get down to so few products, I would save a fortune! Would the vit c moisturiser be for morning (with a separate spy on top) and night? Do I need an eye cream (I don't use one at the moment) please?

This has such potential. Are there any downsides that I need to know about? I can't believe that it could be so easy!

Well you really need to wear sunblock if you're going to be using the products I suggested. :)

I tend to alternate glycolic and Vitamin C. One day glycolic, one day Vit C.

I have the Redermic eye cream by Le Roche, but I very rarely remember to use it. I should use it more regularly, thanks for the reminder.

Honestly I can't think of any more you need. Maybe Niacinamide, but I'm lazy and I always forget to use my Niacinamide.

Ok, I will make sure I do! When you say sunblock, would any spf for, or should I get a particular one? I'm getting a bit unsure now (I have no idea why), there isn't anything to be concerned about is there? I just didn't think it would be this easy! Estée lauder's share price is going to plummet.

SPF 30 at least. I personally use SPF 50 but the difference in sun protection is negligible.

Well, if you plan to get pregnant, then the Redermic R might not be a good idea...

I bumped up a thread about layering skincare

Here you go

Also, as you have dry skin, you might want to use a heavier moisturiser. I sometimes mix my physiogel moisturiser with rosehip oil when I need more moisture :)

No worries. Try googling the products I mentioned (retinol, glycolic acid, Vit C) for additional info (and for verification! :)
