Over the knee boots

Are these worth buying now!? I've coveted a pair for the last few years and finally found a pair I love (black suede) but scared to buy them if they're suddenly going to become a bit try-hard? I always struggle with shoes! These are the ones I was thinking.... asos

I think they've always been a bit try-hard tbh. And the other risk with over the knee boots is that they can often look a bit pantomimey.

You also need long, slim legs to carry them off IMO. I have short fat legs, so in thigh high boots I look like I'm dressing up as a deranged elf.

But if they suit you, go for it.

It's a yes from me. I think they're pretty timeless now. I have a few Stuart Weitzman pairs amongst others and they're very easy to wear. I prefer with a midi dress or a line short dress. Also good with intarsia or interesting wool dresses for winter chic. For reference, I'm 5 foot 7 and a UK 6, so not tall.

They are just so warm I donat care if they are try hard or not. I thinks hey are just a sensible staple tbh. Sweater dress and boots- winter outfit in 2 easy moves.

I love my OTK boots (as I believe the fashionistas refer to them). I see lots of pairs in shops for AW so I don't think they are on their way out.

I'm not very tall but legs are good so I think they suit me.

This article is interesting as I've never worn them without tights. Wear mine with tights, short dresses and skirts and shorts.

Oh I'm glad the general consensus is yes! I'm 5"6 and like my legs so am not worried about drawing attention to them a bit. I'd absolutely love a pair of Stuart Weitzman but they're slightly massively out of budget so I'll stick with the asos look a likes for now. Grin

There was another thread about this the other day, a few guardian articles were linked saying they were the shoe of the decade Hmm

I really want some, if anyone wants to donate some Stuart Weizmanns I won't say no...
