Nice skincare

Sorry, I'm sure this has been done to death but I've had a look through previous threads and can't see it anywhere.

I have my 30th coming up and have decided to treat myself to some decent skincare (although not in the hundreds of pounds range!)

I've been pretty lucky with my skin, I tend to find make up comes off a bit too easily but I don't tend to get too many spots. Likewise, I get quite bad eczema on my body but it's never appeared on my face. I'm not too sure what skin type this makes me. I just feel as though my skin has gotten really dull looking in the last year or so, despite the fact that I drink a lot of water throughout the day.

Of course, I'll go through all this with the consultant but I'm a bit nervous about where to go. At the end of the day, the consultants are sales people so I'm a bit worried about getting pressurised into spending a lot of money (for me) on something that makes no difference.

Does anyone have any recommendations for day and night creams or any other products they swear by? At the moment, I'm thinking lancome or Clarins. I've had a couple of samples of lancome before and I loved the smell and feel although I can't say I noticed any difference (although possibly because I didn't use it for long enough).

La Roche Posay and Vichy are great and not too £££ if you're planning on getting the lot - Dermalogica is divine and you can get packs to try.

Ooh those are brands I hadn't even considered, I will have a look into these. I've heard good things about dermologica but I'd always thought it was more for blemished skin.

I picked up a Nip + Fab dark circles serum thing today reduced to £5 in Boots. Hopefully that will help with the general dullness in the meantime. I expect an overnight miracle

A Clarins addict here.... I'm your age and use the cleaners, toner, day/night cream and a serum..... Love it all. Feels gorgeous, smells great and I'm certain it's saved my skin from the perils of two tiny children and sleepless nights!

High praise for Clarins..... This is making me reconsider it!

I've just been flicking through the Boots magazine and it looks as though you can make an appointment with a skin consult to see what your skin is like and recommend products. The recommendations were for various different brands so not a biased consultant (other than I guess that they were obviously all products that Boots sell). I might look into that.
