Contouring colours

I realise I am very old and probably coming in on the tail end of a trend, but for the last few weeks I've been helping a friend with a wedding-related business and as a result I've seen an awful lot of contouring on brides and bridesmaids.

I was wondering why the base colours for contouring seem to be based on very cool, grey tones, rather than the warmer tones?

Do the cool tones work better on film and in photos? Or is there some other technical reason?

I find the opposite tbh. I'm very cool toned so need cool toned contours and they are very hard to come by. A natural shadow on my face doesn't have even the slightest hint of orange to it and most contour palettes are too dark and too orange so give me stripes and look fake
