Is it just me that finds Cos clothes strangely shapeless?

I was just in there and everything is oversized or shapeless. Who does it actually look good on??

I love COS and it suits me not everything is shapeless and oversized. I'm 5'9" and a size 8 works well for me.

Looks good on me :)

I'm tall and fairly broad shouldered and slim so the "shapeless" stuff hangs nicely. It looks better on me than bodycon style things or high waisted type things. Plus I like the general style of the clothes.

I love COS.

It's sack-like. Not my cup of tea but each to their own.

I agree. It's a very popular brand on mumsnet but it looks a bit shapeless and unflatteringly proportioned but have only seen it online. Do actual stores exist (as may look better in real life) or just online?

No for me too. I'm a tall size 8/10, but broad shouldered and broad hipped and so most of COS makes me look fat and shapeless.

I have a very petite, fairly tall friend whose work wardrobe is COS and she always looks great.

There's a store that sells it near me but it just looks like endless black sacks on the hangers.

Always wondered who it looked good on. I suspect with my knockers it would just look matronly. Is it one of those brands where it looks fab if you've a >C cup only?

I have to say though that it feels nice when you touch it. Thick fabric.

I'm short, busty and fat but still like some of their stuff, just have to be very selective. I came on the thread to say it mostly suits tall and slim folk Grin

I've never even heard of Cos Confused

Oh I've just googled. They photograph/style things the same way Self Portrait do. I can't cope with that, it's too hard to picture what it would look like on.

Depends on the style and fit - I got a top from there recently and gave had loads of compliments on it. I size down sometimes. My biggest gripe with Cos is that some of the fabrics are awful - there's a top that looks amazing but was stiff as a board on.

I used to point and laugh but now I really like the look of some of it - they have interesting shapes. I've also got a couple of things I bought second hand that are great. However even their fans say the fit is hit and miss and that you have to try on first so, as nearly all their branches are in London, I can't see me becoming a regular anytime soon.

They have some lovely things but I am shorty and busty and it all looks terrible on me. Not a good shop for the norkishly gifted.

I am tall and thin, with a tiny waist but big bum, and it looks awful on me but then I don't like shapeless things. It is the sort of clothes that I would look the same in if I was 3 stone heavier, so why would I want to look like that. Utterly over rated and a bit boring. Sorry to be harsh but I see it raved about on here so much and it baffles me.

I am flat chested and broad shouldered, slim but don't go in at the waist much, Cos clothes suit me, annoying tendency to put non washable trim on otherwise washable fabrics though. DH wears more Cos than me though, he works in the creative industries! Looks good on him as long as he has his pot belly under control. I always buy there more conservative stuff though,

I think COS works well for certain body types. I'm 5'8" and fairly slim and my shape is really easy to dress. Some of my staples are from COS. I tend to size down though. I love the simplicity of their shapes and the unexpected details.

I have a colleague who wears head-to-toe Cos and always looks lovely.

I'm a tall, hourglass-ish size 12 and anything I have ever tried on in Cos has been absolutely hideous on me, to the point that I don't even bother looking at it anymore.

Every time I've looked at their website all I can see is massive sack dresses.

Report
plimsolls · 10/09/2016 16:17

Try looking under different categories. They do tops, trousers, skirts, underwear as well as dresses.

Aside from the more voluminous clothes, they have a brilliant style of skinny stretch trousers which are flat fronted (side zip) and a great length. They're a really heavy fabric so remain really smart despite the stretch. I'm only three weeks post partum so they're not quite on the cards at the moment but I live in them for work usually.

I also love all their nightwear/leisure wear although I tend to only buy that in the sale as its a bit expensive for stuff I don't wear outside.

Bit Chairman Mao to me. And the couple of people I see wearing them always accessorise with ethnic statement necklaces, they look interchangeable. And odd to my eyes.

I am curvy with a very slim DSis. The clothes look fab on her but would make me look like a sack of potatoes. The necklines are all wrong for we of big boobs too.

Disappointing.

They do channel a rather Chinese/Japanese aesthetic IMHO.

Yes they do quite a lot of odd 'fashion student trying a bit too hard' stuff. But they also do some nice classic things in great heavy crepe type fabrics.

I look a sight in the former but some of my favourite bits are also from Cos.

A lot of thier clothes are quite structured in a clever way, you have to put something on to see what it does.

If I were a C cup I'd buy all my clothes there. As a g cup I have to be very selective, but it feels great on, is liberatingly minimalist and it lasts. Love it and wish they could bring out collections for hourglass shapes.

I'm tall and chubby and I love Cos. Their stuff actually fits and hangs nicely.
