Do you use foundation without powder?

I think I have shiny skin so I wear powder but I don't think it suits me any more - which is either age or living in a hot country. I'm wondering if there is something I could use to forgo the powder. Maybe a base and then foundation. I have tried looking at Lisa Eldridge etc but they all seem to use powder plus about a thousand other things.

Tell me things I could try!

Try wearing powder under foundation (google this plus Wayne Goss for the video). But make sure it is decent powder, not talc filled stuff.

Or...

Try just wearing spf over serum. I wear Superdrug's water based serum (the one everyone raves about) then Clinique city block spf 40 over the top then I dot concealer over the places I need coverage.

Nope, I use a CC cream (if I remember) during regular days and sometimes foundation (special occasion) and that's it. I don't set it with powder.

Or how about just a light-textured tinted moisturiser?
Ffor normal rather than dry skin, perhaps.
(And shiny skin could also be considered 'dewy'. )

Thanks for your replies. The Clarins saleswoman I went to buy mattifying lotion from said I didn't need it but I think I do.

I will try some of these. Never heard of a fixing spray. I will have a look.

I have very greasy shiny skin and foundation has alway been a nightmare until I discovered loreal infallible matte foundation, I swear it's the best for coverage and you don't need powder at all.
I apply with a damp beauty blender over moisturiser at 7:30am and it's still in place no shine at 10pm. The price is great as well under ten pounds, but you do need moisture underneath or it will feel dry, and it doesn't emphasis my wrinkles either.

Do you need foundation? If you live in a hot county and have oily skin too, I'd be tempted to just use SPF and concealer where necessary as someone above suggested. Layers of products to go greasy will only annoy you.

No. I have good, pretty even skin so I just use tinted sunblock and touché eclat most days and Face Atelier foundation for going out. I prefer the dewy look; powder makes my skin look lifeless.

Inner magic - I will have a look. Thanks for the recommendation. L'Oreal are often too dark for me though.

It is difficult to find colours for my pale skin, which is why I haven't yet tried powder foundation though I am tempted. Also I lived in a rural area. I now live in a city so I have a better chance. I tried with just soft and CC cream this morning but chickened out. I was out of facial spf so will try again tomorrow now I have some.

I have oily skin, so I wear translucent powder on top of my foundation.

You might find that a translucent powder just used where you need it (so where you get oily) will suit you better. And if you apply the powder with a brush, it will generally look more natural than if you apply it with a powder puff/sponge.

In the summer I wear a CC cream (Estee Lauder Double wear Light with Glow) I do wear a primer underneath will helps manage shine but no powder as I prefer the the natural glow look rather than matt which I think is quite ageing when skin is no longer in the first flush of youth.

I have oily skin. When it's hit I just use bb cream.

Heading towards 40 and I think that powder is really ageing on me.

I've never used powder. I use a little moisturiser & sometimes a primer turn just lancombe foundation applied with a brush.

Dd uses powder becsuse she dances a lot & gets sweaty.

I have oily skin which isn't good enough for just spf or bb a lot of the time. When in travelling for work - often hot - I use Lancome tient idole 24hr followed by urban decay all nighter setting spray, with Paula'a choice salicylic acid mattifier underneath

Thanks for your ideas. I still haven't managed to go without. I bought some Avene mattifying lotion but it hasn't really done the trick. I will keep working through the suggestions. Thanks.

I usually only wear cc cream and concealer under powder. I am wondering if I could go without powder if I used full on foundation, applied with a brush.
