I am going to a wedding in September and need help/tips/suggestions for the dress! It is an important occasion (people to impress) and I am fairly clued out on what colours to avoid (black?). I need a size 16 dress, preferably fit and flare style, with some sleeves. Would any of the below two be ok ... It looked good when I tried it. OR can anyone suggest a tried and tested dress? Please do help ...

I like them but no.2 is far too short for a wedding.

mummylookingforstuff Sun 04-Sep-16 21:24:59

Thanks Mini. It is not too short for me as my height is smaller than the model.

The lacy dress looks a little short?

The black and white striped could look lovely if well accessorised, maybe with bright (green? Pink? Blue?) shoes/bag and chunky necklace? Do you know how 'stiff' it is? If it is more jersey like, it might be too casual but it looks stiff, hence, to me, formal enough.

I like the first one. If the weather's bad you can pair it with a brightly coloured wrap, cardi or jacket and some bright shoes. You'll look gorgeous.

Stripey dress is lovely

AnneLovesGilbert Sun 04-Sep-16 21:27:51

Good point on fabric Chewbacca. What's it like op?

LadyPenelope68 Sun 04-Sep-16 21:28:30

Stripey one is lovely, would look fab with red/bright pink shoes/bag etc.

MiniAlphaBravo Sun 04-Sep-16 21:30:37

I like the stripey one and I think its neckline would be more flattering if you have a larger bust than the other as its very high cut.

mummylookingforstuff Sun 04-Sep-16 21:34:55

Thank you for the suggestions! Stripey one - The material is a bit stiff but not too much. As the wedding is in Italy and the weather will be too warm so I think fabric and pattern will be perfect for that.

Please could you point me to shoes and bag - a bit more precisely? Any examples ... ?

Orange would be fab! And different too, I'd avoid nude/navy/purple

leccybill Sun 04-Sep-16 21:45:19

I love orange with monochrome or navy. It will look good in Italy.

mummylookingforstuff Sun 04-Sep-16 21:51:14

How about this sort of combination with the dress? Not exactly these but something of this sort ...

Chewbecca Sun 04-Sep-16 21:55:02

cheap orange sandals here if budget low and you are a size 6?

maroda16 Sun 04-Sep-16 21:56:18

These are gorgeous!!

Chewbecca Sun 04-Sep-16 21:58:36

Yes - your combi is good!

mummylookingforstuff Sun 04-Sep-16 22:00:41

Chewy - yes I am a size 6. I am short, so do you think that heel size be ok for me? Morado - love the colour ...

Guys any suggestion on the bag to go along as well please?

Chewbecca Sun 04-Sep-16 22:04:17

you do need fairly slender ankles/legs for those sandals though - are you ok in that dept? Otherwise a higher court might be better.

PTTG Sun 04-Sep-16 22:06:10

fairly slender legs ... in that case Chew I will go for higher court! :D

maroda16 Sun 04-Sep-16 22:08:06

Mummylookingforstuff penneys/primary have some gorgeous orange shoes at the minute, I'll have a look and see if I can spot a nice bag for you...

Mummylookingforstuff Sun 04-Sep-16 22:15:28

Thanks Maroda! much appreciated ...
