Wedding guest hair

We've got a wedding to go to Friday - it's midday and we have to travel quite a distance to get there so I won't have time to go to a salon in the morning so I'm really struggling for what to do with my stupid hair. It's fairly long, about down to my bra strap, doesn't hold curls well and I'm rubbish at doing anything with it - usually just straighten it and leave it down. I'm quite overweight so don't look particular good with it up anyway (loads of chins) what would you do with it?? ((Pic attached))

Bump for you OP. I'm rubbish with hair, so no help. But you're very pretty, beautiful skin and eyes, so I'm sure you'll look fab!

BTW has your cat realised you'll be leaving him for the day? He's got the same pissed off look my cat used to get at such news.

Previous poster correct you have lovely skin- I'm pasty and uneven skin tone!! Anyway to the hair. What about back combing and having half style ponytail but held with clip rather than band. Are u wearing a fascinator?

If you are travelling in your car, the you could put a few rollers in before you leave and take them out when you arrive to put some soft waves in your hair. Or if not, then a gas tongs costs about twenty quid and you could use it when you arrive.
Or you could wear a big hat

I'm going to a wedding next month. My hairdresser who does my hair at home is working that day & i don't want to pay salon prices(twice the price) so she is coming the evening before colour,cut,blow dry and then she's going to pin curl it. I can take pins out just before I leave for wedding job done

Agree that just some loose wavy curls would be nice and should be fairly easy to to do in car. Wash and blow dry to just about dry. I use a bit of mousse but I think setting lotions are the current 'thing' and either big foamy rollers or make some curls held together with a pin. For my fine hair it's about 12-14.
Gently tease out with fingers when you get there, lots of hairspray. Could use a pretty clip to keep off your face and dress it up. I don't like hats/fascinators for a wedding but I sometimes buy a rose from a florist in colour to match outfit and will attach it into the clip.
If unsure have a couple of trials at home so you know what to expect when you tease out the curls!

Hello, sorry I forgot I posted this. Excellent advice from all - thank you. I I will try for some waves and see how that works out. Toyed with the idea of a fascinator but couldn't find one that worked for me - all a bit too fancy.

Yes - the cat must have caught wind we're out for the day, she does look miserable doesn't she!!

Was also going to suggest a half up style, but leaving your top part in (so a lower half ponytail). That will look nice straightened, especially if you use a pretty clip rather than hair band.

I am terrible at doing my own hair too, at my brothers wedding my hair looked dreadful ! So I have vowed to either go to the hairdressers or buy a hat !

Have you tried doing waves with straightening irons? I have very fine "slippery" hair and I find they hold in mine.
