Can we have a coat thread?

Perhaps we could share coats we've just bought, planning to buy or simply admiring? When do the main ranges start filtering through? I seem to remember the decent ones selling out in Sept so you have to be quick.

After pregnancy and breastfeeding for years I really need several new - a non frumpy rain mac, a trench? A warm winter every day coat, a couple of flattering smart wool coats (navy and light grey?) and something else lightweight and casual!

Particularly keen to discover lovely wool coats as not found any yet!

There are some lovely ones on sale at Maje uk.maje.com/en/outlet-sales/coats-and-jackets/
The only issue is I want about 5 of them.

Place marking! I got this Savannah Miller one for a bargain price in the spring sales

Love it as it has a huge hood, pockets, and a removable quilt lining, so hope that will see me through those hot/cold autumn days.
I'd love something in a deep raspberry pink colour for winter

I want one of those lightweight longline coats - hard to describe - a boxy shape, in a colour - saw a girl in a mustard one the other day and it was fab. But I just can't seem to be able to find them ! I live in London and it's too warm for proper coats most of the year but a longline lightweight jacket-fabric coat looks great for work I think ....
Does anyone have the slightest idea what I'm going on about ?!

I'm a big girl (size 18-20) and I'm having major difficulty finding something which doesn't make me look like a truck

I like this Ted Baker but it's a bit more than I wanted to spend. Also I'm only 5'3" so it'll be about mid calf which isn't a look as far as I'm aware!

I got one from joules which was lovely but it faded after one wash (30C hand wash setting Hmm) a long version of this

they have a boxy short mustard one

I bought a replacement coat for work and will use the faded one for when I'm mucking with the kids at the park. It's from sea salt here

I've been after a mid thigh length, black, waterproof, down padded coat with real fur hood since last year but haven't found the right thing that isn't £600+! If anyone spots one please let me know Smile

I've just become the proud owner of this www.harveynichols.com/brand/harris-wharf-london/womens/166201-navy-flared-wool-coat/p2759411/ and I love it. It's more than I wanted to spend but I fell in love and if it lasts as long as my last wool coat, then it's not too bad. Or that's what I keep telling myself!

I have ordered and returned this coat twice now. I love it so much and it really suits me, however I either work from home or commute to work in my car so rarely wear a coat during the week and my weekends are spent running around with a toddler so it's not the most practical of purchases.

I cannot promise I won't order it again.

I bought this the other day, it had a further discount so came in at £30 and is very flattering on (I'm short and busty) it's not wool but for that price I'm not bothered.

Joining in... I think I want a wool type coat but will hang nicely if it's not done up because I will sometimes be carrying a baby. And to go with it a nice waterproof hat so I can use it for a daily nursery walk for the older girl even when it's rainy.
A parka/raincoat is probably more practical but I want to look pretty not functional!
Love the Ted baker one linked to earlier...

I've been looking for a winter coat too! I can't seem to find any I like. I want a smart coat that I can wear if I go out to a nice restraunt but can also wear everyday. Preferably with a hood! I'm finding it quite diffiuclt to find a smart jacket that has a hood though.

I looked at the Barbour jackets and they were ok. Didn't seem very flexible around the arm. I like the army style jackets with the buttons but they seem to put alot of shoulder padding in them and I only have small arms! It looks ridiculous on me.

I'm finding it so difficult Sad

I have a baby too so it also has to be functional but I want it to be smart. Is that possible?

I have the Ted baker, but in camel & the shorter version. It's seen me through 2 winters & it still looks amazing. I love it, it's quite heavy but it's warm & you can wear the neck in a few different styles.

Last year I got a black Mac from Hobbs, which I also love, but it's a bit more formal. I'd love a navy coat this year.

believeitornot I was looking at that yellow coat the other day. I've seen a few people with it, it's nice. Didn't suit me though my hips have got wider so I had to try a bigger size but was too big on the top! Gave me no shape at all. I like the look of the sea salt one.

ook that's a gorgeous coat

Report
Believeitornot · 20/08/2016 10:19

Yes Cellar it is literally like a box very comfortable but gives no shape at all

The sea salt one is much better.
